2. I think this says it all Joe,
The star of the Academy Award-winning global warming documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," is expected to be a high-profile, active partner at Kleiner Perkins. He would not disclose his salary but said he'll donate it to Alliance for Climate Protection, an advocacy group he co-founded that focuses on accelerating policy solutions to the climate crisis.

The donation does not include stock options. Typically, a tiny fraction of a venture capitalist's compensation is salary; the vast majority of wealth comes from sale of stock options when the companies the firm invests in are sold to the public.

"It's one of the benefits of not being in the public sector anymore," Gore said with a laugh during an interview with The Associated Press.

5. Well he's being honored by Chimpy next week for his Nobel Prize, and
Edited on Mon Nov-19-07 08:16 PM by KoKo01
supposedly also around "TG" he's organized a debate between Repugs/Dems on Environment...co-sponsored with CA Governor Swartzenneger of CA....where the candidates will answer questions from both of them.

I'd say he's a very busy man ...getting lots of "free publicy" and that keeping his name out there with all this stuff is a good thing.

Someone on DU posted he has an Autobiography that's on "Pre-order" at Amazon talking about the "Selection 2000" ...but I somehow didn't take that one seriously because I figured if Al has an Autobiography out revealing what went on there...then he would HAVE TO BE RUNNING (in the background) or he has exquisite timing that he would know he'd win a NOBEL just in time to have pre-orders for his Auto-Biography which he's taking 'pre-sales' for.

Either he's very lucky now or things are progressing with an incredible serendipity...or he's "watching and waiting" for an "opening" in case the frontrunners implode.

Either way he loses nothing...but this is one very productive and energetic man for someone who is saying he's so content to just be "working on his causes." His causes seem to be resulting in a new Press Release every few days. (and, I forgot his gig with the VC Firm who is looking for Green Energy Alternatives that just put him on their Board...or something like that)

Al is very busy for someone out there working in the "Sci/Enviro" movement (supposedly not in the reace). Isn't he?

21. HA.... amazing 'abridged' info there. Great pix, too.

:D

How much is left of what Gore tried to do and did do when he was in Senate and VP, after Bush's evisceration, though. So sad. At least there's a blueprint left to follow in the future, though.

Wow! In case I wasn't already totally impressed with our last duly elected President's resume...

Meanwhile, back in Crawford, all * can claim for fame is death and destruction. Hmm.

7. I hope your implications are right -
But I am thinking - do not take this to the wire - it is too dangerous - the situation too serious.

8. He hasn't written an autobiography - - currently he's writing a new global warming book
Called "The Path To Survival" which will be released in May 2008 and you can preorder it on Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/Path-Survival-Al-Gore/dp/1594867348/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195521698&sr=1-19

The person who wrote about the autobiography may have gotten this confused with the HBO drama about the 2000 Florida recount, called "Recount", which is currently in production:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1000771/

Gore has nothing to do with the HBO film. There is some archive footage of him, according to the IMDB.

13. Look - I know he is smart - smarter than me - but I think she
already did.

And it is dangerous to let this thing hang on.

The world is watching us - they should be. They want to believe we will do the right thing -like we have in the past - they want to believe in us.

They are looking at the possibility of some butt wipe mayor with really dangerous rhetoric having a chance at the presidency - for gods sake - this has to stop.

12. Al Gore Rules Out Running For President In 2008
Former US vice president Al Gore has ruled out a bid to run for the American presidency in the 2008 elections.

Instead, Gore will concentrate on his fight against global climate change following the enormous success of his environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth.

He says, "I have no intention to run for president. I can't imagine in any circumstance to run for office again."

14. Really - I don't intend to get out of bed in the morning -
but I probably will.

You understand this goes to core belief about us as a country -

When it is really bad - does the country rise to the ocsasion.

I think we do.

I think we will now too.

statement yet from VP Gore. If I hear it I'll cry and move on. I haven't heard it.

16. I understand.
And that would be president Gore.

When or if this really goes south for us - the one comfort we should take - this people, our people did the right thing 7 years ago - and our right was taken away by a supreme court that itself should walk away from the court as surely as they walked away from the constitution then.

Guess we will all meet in hell one day.
