An inconvenient task: Bush to Honor Gore at WH...November 19th!

Peter Baker in Washington
November 19, 2007

THE former vice-president Al Gore plans to return to the White House next week, apparently for the first time since leaving office, to be honoured by the man who beat him seven years ago.

The US President, George Bush, will host five American winners of this year's Nobel Prizes in the Oval Office on November 26, including the winner of the Peace Prize, who fell 538 votes short of hosting the event himself.

Mr Bush regularly invites Nobel laureates for a handshake and photograph and decided this year would be no different, even if they include his vanquished rival from 2000.

The Gore camp said the White House went out of its way to accommodate the former vice-president's schedule, even moving the event when there was a conflict with the first proposed date.

Mr Bush personally telephoned Mr Gore on Friday to finalise the arrangements. A Gore adviser acknowledged the awkward nature of the event.

"It's unusual, that's for sure," he said. "But the conversations were good, and the White House has been very gracious about it."
Mr Bush and Mr Gore have never reconciled the bitterness from their showdown, and the adviser believes that Mr Gore has not been back to the White House since leaving as vice-president.

1. A shame that he has to go to the place where he should be in residence....
... to receive a disingenuous honor from the imposter who stands in his stead.

4. How sick joke is that?
Gore can handle, however, and bushit will be green with jealousy because even though his handlers try to keep bad news from him..he's gotta know Gore is more popular now for the right reasons than bushit can only day dream about.

I saw a snippet in Entertainment Weekly that was giving out the "Best and The Worst" SNL hosting awards..and they have a picture of Al Gore lookin' so good in 2002 from his appearance on SNL..

"Beltway types often bomb on SNL (john mccain singing Streisand karaoke? Oooof!). But from his spot on Trent Lott impression to a self-effacing skit in which the Presidential also-ran(sic) refused to leave the Oval Office, Gore proved that he knew how to make a joke--and how to take one, too." Sept 28, 2007 issue, page 20.

We know chimpczar can't make a joke and he sure as hell can't take one at his expense..heh heh.

5. Bush sure is brave..gasp (did I say that?) I mean, the comparison
between Al Gore, a winner in every possible way, next to that? Good opportunity for America to really see what they lost out on. In that way I guess this is good. Go Al!

8. I want to thank you for your comment.
My first thought was "oh god, why would Mr Gore dignify that sack of shit by going?" - then I moved on to maybe Gore's just trying to honor the Nobel Prize and the other winners and graciously not make a stink.

But your idea - the thought about the incredible contrast between president fuck up and Al Gore will shock a lot of people --- IF the media carries it.

6. Well if anybody deserves a Presidential Medal of Freedom, Al Gore does, maybe Bush will give him one

but Bush will need a ladder to put it around Al Gore's neck, so I suppose that's out.

10. Yes, I know, that was just my sad attempt at irony,

and for the vertically challenged people out there, my previous post was aimed at Bush's shrinkage in stature, not his actual height.

Peace to you mod mom
