Today's Bush administration outrage, "on this date in history"
Nov 18th ...

On This Date 11/18-Bush Sr. vs. Bush Jr.

1988: Newspapers report today on yesterday’s announcement by the first President-elect Bush that John Sununu would be his chief of staff. Sununu later compared Bush Sr. with the younger Bush's administration, Sununu said: "We always made sure the President was hearing all the possibilities. That’s one of the differences between the first Bush administration and this Bush administration" (New Yorker, Oct 2005). Bush Jr's administration is infamous for only seeking out opinions that matched its own; opinions that often proved to be wrong.

2006: The Boston Globe reports today on reaction to the Bush administration announcement that Dr. Eric Keroack was to supervise the government’s family planning efforts. Dr. Keroack has a record of twisting scientific research to come up with bizarre conclusions, such as comparing people with multiple sex partners to drug addicts.

Keroack once served as medical director for the group 'A Woman’s Concern'. That group regards birth control as "demeaning to women, degrading of human sexuality", according to a story by the Globe's Ellen Goodman. Cecile Richards, head of Planned Parenthood, says: "You have to search far and wide to find a doctor who opposes family planning to run the nation's family planning program". As Goodman states, "This White House found one".

1. Bush's idea of 'family planning' is making sure there are enough paper plates to go around
at the pig-roast BBQ on Sundays.
