War on Christmas News: AFA attacks PetSmart for saying "Christmas" AND "Holiday"
In their never-ending crusade to save Christmas by apparently demanding that every retailer in America to use the word “Christmas” in its holiday (sorry, Christmas) promotions, the American Family Association is now targeting PetSmart for denying Christmas to the nation’s pets:

"At PetSmart, Christmas doesn't exist

Send an e-mail to PetSmart and ask why they refuse to include Christmas in their promotion, choosing to only use holiday.

At PetSmart, Christmas doesn't exist. It is not to be found anywhere on their Web Site. AFA checked out the local PetSmart store and there was no Christmas there, either.

A search on PetSmart's home page found 252 references to "holiday." It also found 43 references to "Christmas." But, alas, this is very misleading. When you click on "Christmas" you are directed to a page containing the same gifts you get when you search for holiday. Of all the items that pop up when you search for Christmas, not a single one mentions Christmas or is identified as being a Christmas gift.

At PetSmart, everything is "holiday."

However...

3. That really says it all. They are.
They are a tiny lunatic-fringe minority that attempts to
compel far larger groups to do what it wants by means of
threats.

Its only functional tool is FEAR, and it uses that tool to
achieve political goals.

That's "terrorist organization" in a nutshell.

15. this is the truth
they try and intimidate a large group of people by doing one horrific act (forcing christmas on one company) and then they say if you do not do as we say, we will go after you too, thereby instilling fear. a terrorist organization indeed.

2. But my dog doesn't celebrate Christmas
He's a Buddhist. So Petsmart is right to include dogs of all belief systems.

5. Well obviously your dogs aren't good Christians...
How dare they replace the words "Merry Christmas" with "Woof, Woof", you better train them to pray before God or they are going to hell for sure.

16. they used to whine that the "X" had been taken out of "Xmas" b/c it
had become "too commercial." Now they're pissed because it's not commercial enough.

Fuck the AFA, the mall is a public venue, not just for Xtians, and so are "the Holidays." I'm tired of them flaunting their superstitious, ignorant, faux persecuted crap in my face. If I want to worship a mythical being, I will go to church, not to PetSmart. DUMBFUCKINGASSES

19. Here we go again
:eyes: some people like to be churned up all the time. Personally I prefer to not let things like that keep me all upset. I have enough other things in my life that keep me stressed like being the 24/7 caretaker of my father who is suffering from dementia. I wish the the biggest problem in my life was "holiday" vs. "Christmas" ... must be nice. :-(

24. Origin: bef. 1150; ME cristmasse; OE Cristes maesse Mass of Christ
Edited on Sat Nov-17-07 10:10 PM by pingzing58
At this time the people of Briton were still Roman Catholics celebrating the Catholic Mass. Henry VIII did not break away until 1538. And Donald Wildmon's methodism did not come along until the 1730's. So, I'm glad to see that he and his misguided followers want to promote the Roman Catholic Mass that commemorates the birth of Christ and in of all places at a pet store. Good work AFA, eventually you will come back to the Catholic Church and abandon your heresy by coming under the authority of the Roman Pontiff (tongue in cheek for my DU friends). Happy Mass of Christ day and Happy Holy Days!!!

edited: old english spelling won't appear.
