Katherine Newman makes a good point about electing a progressive like Edwards
The House and the Senate are primed to go big time Democratic this time.
To put a centrist in the WH would be a waste. Why start out compromising?
Start very progressive and if you have to then move to the center.
The other side has always started far to the right. The thing is, they never move.
The damage that has been done to our country is to great, to not take advantage of this opportunity.
IMO.
We have to bring our values back home. We have to restore the middle class through strong unions.
The only way to effectively balance the economic stability for the American workforce is through collective bargaining.
Collective bargaining helps all workers union or otherwise.
I have been a UAW member I'm Now a Teamster.
I have witnessed my union proceed when times were good, concede when times were tough. Always in the interest of maintaining
good jobs and a strong employer.
Thanks for reading my thoughts. Dan

1. Time to elect a president who represents people NOT corporations! Edwards is that

the candidate of the people! Notice who is the only candidate walking the line with the WGA! Some others are getting handouts in Malibu and Beverly Hills! Writers are "real people" not lobbyists and corporations.

7. and whether he has or has not
why cut off your nose to spite your face?

He has the right positions now, and also has a chance at the nomination. He or Biden would be far better than either of the glamor candidates. Why hold out for someone who is more marginalized every day, who realistically will NOT get the nomination, and if nominated would be another Dukakis debacle for the dems? Why not get someone sympathetic in the big chair and then encourage the even-more-progressive purists to lobby for their positions in an atmosphere where they'd at least be heard?

"half a loaf is better than none" but in this case its more like 90% of a loaf, at worst, even if you don't elicit those apologies you seem to require

8. The concern is what Kucinich said at the last debate
Why not get it right the first time? Edwards now SAYS he has the "progressive" ideals. But actions speak louder than words. And his past actions were not progressive.
