Israelis invent new slang word, "lacondol," based on Condoleeze Rice
Edited on Sat Nov-17-07 02:09 PM by HamdenRice
I just heard this on the NPR news and current events game show, "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me." The host said that political circles in Israel have coined a new slang word, a verb, "lacondol" based on Condoleeze Rice's name. The "la" according to them, is what makes it a verb infinitive.

The definition of "lacondol" is to do nothing -- but actually, to run around, holding meetings and conferences, generating paper, but accomplishing absolutely nothing.

Haven't been able to corroborate this through google, but if there are any Hebrew speakers/Israelis out there, would appreciate a confirmation!

1. That fits her to a tee... Run around appearing to do a lot and accomplishing
nothing.. I like it... think we should start using it. I know a few people who would fit that description lacondol... Is it pronounced like its spelled la- con-dol.

4. Like Spanish?
'la' is an article? On the show they said it was a syllable that turned a noun into a verb -- I guess the way we use 'google,' as in, 'I'll google it.'

sorry for the bad transliteration.

7. Aw c'mon now folks, Iraq's just having a few birthing pains...
...that's all -- you can't blame our beloved midwife for that:

Only a million plus dead, with another several million displaced, and the country in complete shambles, no reliable water, electricity, medical, or security, and poisonous depleted uranium everywhere -- a few democracy birthing pains that's all. Now go on about your business, people, nothing to see here.
