Mankind will probably deserve extinction.
Watching a SciFi Channel movie called "Black Hole" right now. Something muddled about a black hole in the midwest and a giant ball lightning type monster released by it. Homeland Security is in the movie. The defenses so far against the electroterraist is to shoot at it with service revolvers and semiautomatic guns, and--oh, yeah--the president has authorized the launch of a nuclear weapon against it.

Somehow this movie doesn't feel so farfetched.

1. I miss the Sci-Fi channel.
:(

But, as to the title of this post, I wish I could disagree with you.

2. Live Humans! Live!
I don't like the misanthropic stuff. Some conspiracy theorists think the global elite actually wants to reduce the population by billions. Having said that, it's entirely possible our 'leaders' will kill us with nukes.

3. I'm sure we deserve all sorts of things . . .
But I've committed no crime so heinous that I should be exposed to such terrible movies.

I can't understand how the channel that broadcasts (to the degree that cable is a 'broadcast') quality fare like Battlestar Galactica and Dr. Who can also show the drivel you mention (and wrestling and the ghost hunter dimwits). It's not like they're getting this dreck for free -- they have to pay for it with the same money that they could spend on quality fare. And their advertisers certainly can tell the difference between shit and shinola. They'd be better off broadcasting test patterns than most of this shit.

I like the Ghost Hunters. Maybe you're a skeptic, but they've filmed a lot of cool stuff. Not to mention all the creepy audio.

9. Different strokes for different folks . . .
If they didn't try to pretend that what they were "observing" was real, maybe it'd be entertaining. Since they do insist it's all real, it's an insult to my intelligence. (Not to mention aesthetic sensibilities, since the camera work, audio, acting etc., suck so badly.)

They no more believe in paranormal phenomena than I believe in the tooth fairy.

4. Physics from sub-atomic to astro- is/are strangley relevant to
practically everything.

Now I know there are folks who will tell me that's because I'm applying my pseudo-knowledge in the same manner that makes Astrology seem relevant, i.e. it's so ambiguous that you can make it fit anything, but oh well, I still Physics seems to describe an awful lot. Maybe it's a Jungian archetype.
