Ingraham upset that Dodd spoke Spanish during debate.

Last night on Fox News’s The O’Reilly Factor, stand-in host Laura Ingraham was incredulous that Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) had the audacity to speak Spanish during Thursday’s CNN presidential debate. “What’s with Chris Dodd speaking Spanish?” she asked. “Speaking Spanish!”

Watch it at link~

At one point in last night’s debate, Dodd said, “Bienvenidos tambien” (Welcome).

1. Good grief,
can't that %$#@! find something more important to whine about. Mr Dodd was directing his answer to the man who asked the question and from the smile on his face it seemed he approved of how Mr Dodd chose to answer.

6. He spoke beautiful fluent Spanish, unlike the Moron in Chief...
yet, she says nothing about the Bush* frequent attempts to mangle the language.

7. You mean how Bush mangles the english language of course
I don't think my brain would survive seeing him attempt any other language or dialect.

9. Yeah.. but you have surely heard him make his feeble attempts
at Spanglish.... Every time he merely opens his mouth he infuriates and embarrasses the English-speaking world. But on occasion, he has to make sure the Latino and Spanish-speaking world are equally disgusted... 'Got to hand it to him--on this he is very successful.

10. Apparently Vincente Fox, former mexican president, commented in his book
that Bush's Spanish skills "grade-school" level. The guy can't speak intelligibly in ANY language.

11. My Spanish is poor, but I think even non-speakers can hear
Edited on Sat Nov-17-07 12:38 PM by hlthe2b
how horrendous Bush*'s attempts are, with the inappropriate pauses that causes him to place wierd emphasis on the wrong syllables--everything he does in "English." It is mangled Spanglish with a overly emphasized west Texas twang... and really disgusting.

By contrast, I loved hearing Dodd's effortless fluidity. It was beautiful.

16. Bush speaks spanish like a recent immigrant speaks english
and of course that's the way Bush speaks english as well..

I think there is no language in which he is comfortable fluent..

War-ese is the closest he comes to being comfortable speaking.

When I see Bush attempting to speak english, I am reminded of 7th grade spanish class.."Yo tengo un lapiz amarillo"

13. Will she ever shut up?
She needs to realize no one outside of a few very mentally disturbed conservatives cares what she has to say.

19. Ingraham is a rabid hater of immigrants. That is all she talks about. I'm
not surprised she would find Dodd speaking Spanish to be an abomination. She plays the "fear brown people" card daily.

She was here to give an award to a leader of our minutemen chapter. Promoting fear seems important to her.

21. Didn't Bush get upset once when a reporter asked the French president
a question in (gasp) French?

So, this seems par for the course among modern-day Republics.

22. Dodd said much more than that in Spanish.
I didn't think it was wrong, and I of course, took no offense.

But he said much more than "Bienvendios tabmien". There was a much longer exchange in Spanish.

To me, it showed that Dodd was very comfortable and fluent (I am guessing, since I could not understand). It certainly gave the appearance that, had you not known, he was speaking naturally.
