Fascism and Nazism aside,...NAME OUR NATION..
We are different and new,...another dark mark on human history. Uh, I don't mean WE, the citizens, but rather this government and its obsessions.

Obviously, MONEY controls this governance. No one can possibly deny that fact.

Obviously, the "appearance" of advancing freedom and liberty is the objective. Deny that?

What does the foregoing MAKE the U.S.A.?

I mean,...I don't think this government discriminates about whom they are willing to destroy (e.g. anyone who simply lacks the resources to fight back,...is worthless and an encumbrance). So, the U.S.A. isn't in the NAZI GERMANY territory.

The elite that RULE OVER THIS NATION can not be 'classified' as fascists, either because,...they don't lock us up (yet).

This governance has EARNED a different DARK-MARK label on human history.

I still believe, CORPORATOCRACY will be the next VEX dark-mark name on this period.

However, I'd like to know your characterization because I know, for a fact, there are much more perceptive posters than me.

6. The New Byzantine Empire comes to mind...
crumbling, decadent, collapsing, effete, and useless, yet still surviving on bluster, pretension, dreams of past glory, we hold ourselves up to be the bastion of western, Christian civilization, keeping back the ravening infidel hordes from the east. A nation of proud know-nothings, insane religious zealots, and "conservative" service-sector employees who will fight to the last breath for their corporate masters who hold them in utmost contempt.

27. In its last two hundred years, perhaps.

For most of its history, the glory was real. They were indeed the bastion of western, Christian civilization. They did indeed block Muslim expansionism several times. And they were the most educated people in Europe and the greatest patrons of the arts; they were hardly know-nothings.

Even as the collapse was finalizing, when the Crusaders sacked Constantinople it was by far the greatest city on the Continent; the Crusaders estimated that half of the wealth of the world must have lied within its unbreachable walls.

I quite agree that for most of its history, nothing else in Europe even came close.

12. Corporatism U.S.A.
and I don't have anything against the concept of corporations per se, I just believe they have vastly too much power and influence to the detriment of the American People as individuals. As corporations become conglomerated, they can't help but be dumbed down or intimidated as more people answer to fewer heads and they pass this dynamic along to the American People as a whole. We as a nation can only suffer when we allow monopolies to flourish.

And, the ambitious CHRISTIAN NETWORK ala Falwell (God judged him, perhaps BACK to Africa, perhaps), Robertson and Dobson, among others.

Thing is, there is lot of (excuse my language) human fuckers so into themselves that 'human rights', 'civil rights', BASIC MORALS and Constitutional protections were matters to be set aside for,....WHAT.

FOR WHAT?

The answer is OBVIOUS.

Now, make THEM explain their allegiances. They deserve the FIRE of their positions.

19. On a very technical matter, it is a fascist state
it fits the definition given by Benito Mussolini who INVENTED the term

Don't run from it.

Fascism can better be defined as Corporatism, that is the marriage of the state and corporations.

22. True. BUT,...the U.S.A. is different because the corporatism has extended beyond,...
,...the state and that nation.

So,...imagine,...at some point beyond U.S. aggressive assertion of power,...what will the U.S.A. be called?

23. I will never EVER forget marching among tens of thousands BEFORE the war on Iraq.
I never felt more safe, more fulfilled, more connected than any possible human experience among the most diverse people anyone could ever imagine.

All those non-violent marches were censored (I have pictures of them, around the globe, in my personal record). They continue to be censored. Information about reality is constantly censored.

The "people" ARE 'pacified'.

It's true.

29. I can remember in
2004, on a DU discussion, I said that if Bush & Cheney stayed in office, that we would not recognize our country as being the same in 2008. And a few of my good moderate & conservative friends saying I was being overly dramatic. I wasn't trying to be dramatic, and I think I was right.
