Al Gore chooses Canary Islander to spearhead his Spanish project

A high-flying Canary Islander with an extremely apposite name, Juan Verde, has been chosen by former Vice-President and climate change guru Al Gore to head up his Climate Project in Spain.

Verde, born in Telde, Gran Canaria, is president of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Canary Islands, has acted as an advisor in both of Bill Clinton’s administrations, and has a close personal relationship with Mr Gore. Indeed, it was thanks to that friendship that he included Tenerife and Gran Canaria in his world schedule of An Inconvenient Truth series of conferences this summer.
Three months after that visit, Spain has been selected as the first Spanish-speaking nation to be given the chance to develop The Climate Project.

It kicked off with a conference in Seville where some 200 delegates were trained in how to put the Gore message across to the Spanish public.
~~~~~~~~
This is very exciting, because it is an expansion of the training program begun in Nashville and can now move out to many other countries. Anyone who tells me this man is not having influence around the world as someone who can now head his OWN organization to inspire action and change just doesn't understand how important this is. I hope to one day soon see The Climate Project/Africa, The Climate Project/Asia, and The Climate Project/South America. I think this is a fantastic and brilliant way to bring the facts regarding the climate crisis to people in areas of the world that would not have gotten them otherwise and who need them most now.
