Happy 230th Birthday to. . .
The Articles of Confederation.

Some consider today to be America's true birthday because the Declaration of Independence was a statement of separation from British rule. So though it was a statement of intent, nothing was really formed until the Articles of Confederation was approved in York, Pennsylvania.

1. It would be nice to have a weak executive again
Instead of the post-WWII throne from which to launch unlimited war.

2. Happy Birthday!
The Articles of Confederation are also closely related to Ben Franklin's 1754 Albany Plan of Union; both show the influence of the Haudenosaunee, or Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy.

4. Yes and I've heard some lament that what was omitted from the Iroquois'
model was the inclusion of an advisory council of elders of both genders.

Sure could use that wisdom now but * would just ignore them just as he did the Iraq study group's recommendations.

5. When I read only the title to your post I wrongly thought
you were going to say something about "in the daily articles about shredding our Constitutional rights."

Yikes.
