OMFG!!!
President Bush Delivers Remarks at Federalist Society's 25th Annual Gala
Union Station
Washington, D.C.

............

When the Founders drafted the Constitution, they had a clear understanding of tyranny. They also had a clear idea about how to prevent it from ever taking root in America. Their solution was to separate the government's powers into three co-equal branches: the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary. Each of these branches plays a vital role in our free society. Each serves as a check on the others. And to preserve our liberty, each must meet its responsibilities -- and resist the temptation to encroach on the powers the Constitution accords to others. (Applause.)

For the judiciary, resisting this temptation is particularly important, because it's the only branch that is unelected and whose officers serve for life. Unfortunately, some judges give in to temptation and make law instead of interpreting. Such judicial lawlessness is a threat to our democracy -- and it needs to stop. (Applause.)

Tonight I will discuss a judicial philosophy that is based on what our Founders intended. I'm going to talk about the importance of having good judges who adhere to this philosophy. And I will explain the need to reform a confirmation process that is making it more difficult to persuade decent and intelligence people to accept the call to public service.

The President's oath of office commits him to do his best to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." I take these words seriously. I believe these words mean what they say. And I ask my nominees to the federal bench to take seriously their own oath to uphold the Constitution -- and that is because I strongly believe our freedom depends on the willingness of judges to be bound by the Constitution and the law. (Applause.)

15. No, but I was intimidated.
As I was leaving, I walked through Union Station to board the metro (aka DC subway). A capital police officer approached me, and told me I had to leave, because protests were not allowed on this property. I replied: "I am leaving. I'm going to the metro." To which he said: "I will not allow protests or signs on my property."

HIS property? The train station is HIS property?

Since I was leaving anyway, I didn't challenge him. But I found it rather odd. In retrospect, I wish I'd gotten his badge number.

This has been how this WH viewed this Nation from the git go, as a democracy.

We are not a Democracy, We are a Republic.

10. If it's good for Bush, it's bad for America.
I've said it before, and with few exceptions, that has been proven time and time again to be true.

And if the Republicans are for it, it's only good for the wealthy.

That is not America.

16. Said the fox in the hen house.
What would you do, if you were trying to cover your ass? Honest office, HE did it!

You know, the real criminals are the American people. I didn't let the fox in to my own hen house. I'm watching like a hawk. It's the sleeping Americans. Like my dear aunt. My father and her nephew have been on her ass for the last few years, with facts and articles, and pleading. She doesn't get it. She doesn't want to wake up. She doesn't want to look. She doesn't want to think. And the world is suffering because of people like her. They are the ones letting this fox do his damage.

body give a damn about preserving, protecting, or defending the Constitution.

20. Well, this should put to rest the idea that he has no conception of what he's doing
He's spelled out that he understands exactly why things were codified the way they were in the constitution, but is more interested in limiting the powers of the other branches in favor of his own. Congress is merely there to codify his will, and the judiciary is there merely to enforce his will.

Sound like a dictator to anyone here?
