When it comes to Barry Bonds, he may very well be guilty, I have no idea.
However, this post is about RW hate-radio, and how they just love to jump on these cases. When the Duke lacrosse players were accused of rape, they were pleading for everyone not to judge to hastily, to let the legal system work itself out. But let any case involving an African-American crop up, and these very same people take to the airwaves, denouncing the person in question, and practically leading an on-air lynching party.
For example, there was a case locally where a black University of Florida football player was arrested on a minor charge - his girlfriend had paid to get her car out of impound, but it didn't get taken out before closing. So he allegedly broke in after hours, and took her car out. The state attorney's office dropped the charges, and that should have been the end of it. It would have been, except that some of our local hate-radio hosts kept the fires burning, trashing this young man constantly, and basically demanding that he be kicked off the team. There were even calls for the state attorney to reverse its decision and prosecute this athlete.
It seems that without fail, right-wing radio is always all-too-ready to form up a virtual lynching party whenever there is a high-profile case involving a black defendant. How much time did they spend bashing the Jena-6 defendants, while at the same time practically ignoring what lead up to the event?
