Any Thoughts on Bush's Move to Open Military Airspace for Commercial Air Traffic?

Don't want to get too tinfoil-ish, but when I first heard this last night, the hair on the back of my neck stood up.

2. I was wondering about that. He wants to privatize air traffic control.
It probably has something to do with that!

5. To muddle his role in establishment of Homeland Security and its failures and endless delays. He
wants to appear to be proactive in solving those problems after failing miserably. "Look at me, I'm trying to solve your problems. I'm thinking about you for the holidays." Typical bullshit for the masses to swallow.

6. Looks like it's already being done on an unscheduled basis anyway.

Just from reading the article, and not being in the slightest way familiar with the airspace involved, of course, but this sounds like they're just formally agreeing to unblock the airspace for civilian traffic on a scheduled basis instead.

7. Not gonna help a bit.
The problem isn't airspace it's pavement. Too many airplanes, not enough runways or controllers to handle them.

He's a dumbass about everything else, why should I expect him to have a clue about the needs of ATCers.

9. With all military efforts now in Iraq
they're probably not using the military airspace much in the US anyways.

makes me think a disaster is about to happen.

What if we ignore a bunch of unusual traffic in the "military lanes" because of this order--and it turns out to be undercover nukes on the way to Iran? Or back the other way IN to make an attack on a city pretending to be enemy aircraft?

Just two tinfoil suggestions.
