According to the LA Times:

"Fewer than 10,000 Democrats caucused in 2004, and party officials are aiming for more than four times that Jan. 19."

1. That may or may not be the real number
I am not sure. What I can tell you is the caucus was a debacle. They were not nearly prepared for the "less than 10,000" they got. We were herded onto a football field because they didn't have the facilities to handle the crowd that did show. They were completely blown away by the turnout last time around. There was a lot of energized people last time around wanting bush out of office. This time bush is gone no matter what I will be surprised if this years caucus draws anything close to the crowd the last one did. Especially if we go into it with the inevitability of hillary still intact.

2. Very Interesting! THanks for the report from last election cycle...
So if Hillary is viewed as 'inevitable' this time, would she not be a prime target for upset given it would take fewer opposition individuals to vote against her at the Nevada caucuses?

3. So, if you are not for Hillary, start working for your candidate.

4. that really says something abour or state party organizations
that they had low expectations about turnout and didn't prepare for anything more. if that was their expectation they should be working to raise turnout.

hopefully with change in DNC Chair things will improve.
