Please tell me that people in GA aren't this stupid....
RE: the Gov there whose name is actually Sonny Perdue, is all gloating that GAWD!!! is rewarding his praying for rain?

HELLO!! This cold front was already predicted before the prayer thing - I looked up the 10 day forcast myself when I read the original story and I thought, oh watch, they will pat themselves on the back over "God rewarding" them etc....BLECH!!!

You know I was raised a Christian but these days it's just kind of an embarassing religion. GWB and these RWers have just made a mockery of it.

1. Oh, that ain't the haif of it, honey!
...as we say down here. While this moron was praying for rain, his own house was leaking 17,500 gallons of water. Unfortunately, some people here are this stupid, but not all of us.

2. Yes, unfortunately some of the residents
of my state are this stupid! I would apologize for them, but I would be apologizing until I was blue in the face.

It should also be noted, that our "fine" (and I use that term sarcastically) didn't bother to invite leaders from other religions to his prayer session.

And yes it did rain, however, it rained for only a few hours, and was not even close to helping the drought. All it did was make the roads wet for the morning commute. I hope next time, they ask for something more specific, such as a week of rain, that will refill the lakes. Maybe this was just a test run! :sarcasm:

9. Whenever I read stories like this...
I feel like I've been hit upside-the-head with a "religion is the opiate of the masses" 2 x 4.

I don't think my governor (Easley of NC) participated in the prayer festivities, but we did receive some rain. It made for a crappy morning commute, but I'll take it. Ah-men.

3. I checked the forecast when he announced the plan
3 of the next 10 days had forecasted some probability of rain.

Watch out Georgia, he's going to pronounce himself the second coming any second now.

it doesn't matter how ridiculous it may be. If they want to believe it, they'll find an excuse to cover their belief

15. Sonny "Free At Last" Perdue
:puke:

In his victory speech, Perdue declared the end of Democratic dominance in Georgia by quoting the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.: "Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, we're free at last." It must have been a jarring moment for anyone, especially blacks, watching the celebration on television -- a Republican who wants to unfurl a segregationist flag borrowing the stirring words of the great civil rights leader who died for the cause of desegregation.

Free at last? Not yet, Sonny. Southerners will never be really free as long as politicians pander to them on old resentments and divisive symbols of an ignoble past.

17. God must hate the people in Bangladesh

Thousands of coastal homes have been levelled and trees uprooted as a powerful cyclone batters Bangladesh.

Hundreds of thousands of people were evacuated or sought safe shelter before the storm hit the coast, but there are fears for those left behind.

The cyclone, which roared in from the Bay of Bengal just before dusk on Thursday, is packing winds of up to 240kph (150mph) and driving rain.

Kind of like looking for miracles, if you look hard enough and really want to call something a miracle it's it's pretty easy to find them.

And, it should be pointed out that religion isn't "stupid" to the vast majority of people in this country, let alone the South.

Let me point out that I think what Sonny Purdue did was stupid, inconsiderate and anti-Christian (as Jesus was the first person in recorded history to preach to the separation of Church and State); however, praying for God's help isn't stupid. It simply should be done in private and not as a political stunt.

33. Here are some stupid people and quite a few of them live in Georgia.
For instance from one Georgian:

"It wasn't up in the inches, but the Lord gave rain in due season just as promised."
