Obama Will Benefit from Iowa Students Caucusing in Home Towns

Pundits thought the moving up of the IA primary to Jan. 3 would hurt Obama because students would be on break. But the several big schools and Grinnell said they would stay open so students from out of state could return and caucus if registered there. But meanwhile, most IA students are from IA or neighboring IL, so Obama will get a lot of the IL students to return for Jan. 3. The students from IA itself would do the campaign immeasurable good, however, by caucusing in their home towns and being Obama organizers!

So Jan. 3 could help Obama in all 99 counties as his youth revolution organizes in their home towns! This was unexpected but just realized today.

If all the students were back in school, Obama would simply overwhelm the vote in the college precincts. But if all those Obamaniacs are home, Obama spread out his youth vote better, impacting all 99 counties...

Wow. Combined with the ground organization, the showing at the JJ dinner and his speech, I'd say Hillary is now likely to lose Iowa to Obama and maybe come in third by Jan. 3rd.

1. He does have the young voters. Of course, so did Dean, and they let Dean down.
His campaign would be well advised to 'herd' that group. They do get distracted.
