Mr. SKINNER, will you be coordinating another 'Second Harvest'
fund drive for the holidays this year? Tis the season, and it'd be nice to know. I felt like our money went to a worthy cause last year.
Thanks!

1. Now that you bring that up.

I think they wasted the money I sent them on asking me for more money. I have gotten tons of donation requests from them. I'm almost certain that they lost money on me.

2. I think every charitable organization is like that and it baffles me, too.
Two years ago I gave to Habitat and they still send me stuff regularly. It does seem like a waste of paper.

3. I gave to both Second Harvest and Habitat last Christmas
Now I have a bad attitude toward both because of the crushing barrage of solicitations I have received from them throughout the year since. We should pick a different charity each year.

5. Wrong
If you keep sending to only one then you only get the junk mail from one.

Send to all of them and you won't be able to get in the front door.

7. What are you talking about? I have a sister and we donate to
a charity every Christmas instead of exchanging gifts. Is that now a problem?

8. YOU are the one who presented the problem that you were getting "Junk Mail"
after you donated!

9. And I was asking Skinner a question, not you. I'm contributing somewhere
regardless, or do you think I shouldn't try to feed someone or help put a roof over their head because of the junk mail, which can be cancelled.

now you are saying that I said you shouldn't try to feed someone or put a roof over their head.

You said you were getting "Junk Mail" for replying to Second Harvest Last Year...I wondered what the heck you were talking about.

You replied in some Freeperish way to me. FUCK OFF... Why didn't you PM Skinner YOURSELF! Instead you put out a post which says "should I donate to "Second Harvest" after all the problems you had last year.

12. Your reading skills seem to be impaired this evening. I didn't ask
'if' I should donate, I asked Skinner if he was coordinating a charity drive again this holiday season.
You really should learn to read thoroughly before you respond so hastily and nastily.

15. I wrote the OP; I know what I wrote. Sorry, but a simply apology will
be fine! And just in case, you might want to re-read the OP to sharpen those reading skills. Just sayin'...

16. You seem to want someone to argue with....
I'm out of it. Second Harvest is a worthy cause. If you don't want to get Junk Mail then don't give to anybody for anything. But, don't come here trashing it...when you didn't ask Skinner ...you just threw the post out with your complaints which might discourage others from giving to this worthy cause.

Maybe you forgot to "uncheck the boxes" for further emails from them...or whatever...but to trash a worthy site because of junk mail and then attack a poster who questioned you just goes beyond the pale.

18. Are you reading my post, the original post? I honestly don't
know what the hell you are talking about. I certainly did not trash Second Harvest or any other organization. There were no complaints in the OP, and this thread was a thread to ASK Skinner. I don't know what you're reading (or smoking), but it's definitely NOT the OP.

10. We act locally and our group "adopts" a family
Edited on Tue Nov-13-07 06:36 PM by SoCalDem
a church or school can often steer you to a family that needs some help..

5 or 6 people can make a real difference to a struggling family ..

One year we got a donated tree, and the family got toys for the kids, a sweater for Mom, and a pantry full of groceries (in addition to the holiday meal-fixings)

We went to the house when the kids were not there so that Mom could take the credit :)
