World War I Vet asked about Iraq, Afghanistan: "I'm not in favor of war unless it’s an emergency."

106-year old WWI veteran speaks on the Iraq war.

This weekend, Frank W. Buckles, traveled to Arlington National Cemetary for a ceremony honoring his service in World War I. Buckles, 106 years old, is one of just three known suriving World War I veterans. Asked about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Buckles told the Washington Post, “I’m no authority, but I’m not in favor of war unless it’s an emergency.”

1. WWI was not an American emergency

Wilson was a two-faced hypocrite who reneged on his campaign promises to stay out of the war.

A negotiated peace would have been quickly forthcoming on the Western front after Germany's victory over Russia. For as bad as that sounds it may have avoided the Great Depression and Hitler.

The Zimmerman note was bullshit and Americans who saw the widely published disclaimers not to book passage on ships entering a war zone should be be retro-actively awarded the Darwin award.

3. Did I say otherwise?
I was trying to expand the scope of your post to avoid what would otherwise be a boring series of "I agrees" or thread recommendations.

4. You don't agree with the quote?

Your comment seems to diminish the point of the quote by drawing a correlation between it and your point that WWI was not an emergency.
