One problem with Edwards winning is ...
the rich white guy wins ... again.

It kind of makes a statement in itself.

1. Do you often judge people on their race, gender, and wealth?
I think the statement you make is not the one you intended to make.

If Hillary wins, well, it stays the "White" House for another 4-8 years.
If Obama wins, well, we have another male there.

Who cares what Condi's positions are--she crucially has both dark skin and a vagina.

(Do you really have a problem with JE's wealth? He's self-made.)

7. The problem with him winning is if he wins.
He's not the solution most of us are after - mainly because he changes his mind every other second.

16. And Robert Kennedy and Jack Kennedy.
Being wealthy may make it more difficult to pass through the eye of a needle, but it does not make it impossible. I have no problem with people considering the wealth of a candidate as a factor, but it should not be the deciding factor. Obama is not poor. Hillary and Bill have become extremely wealthy -- mostly from their political careers and profiles. Candidates who have enriched themselves in politics worry me much more than candidates who made fortunes or inherited fortunes and then decided to go into public service. I have to ask myself how much pandering did the Clintons have to do to become as rich as they are as quickly as they have. As I recall during Clinton's presidency, word was that the litigation against them was bankrupting the Clintons. Now they are so rich. How did that happen? I don't think that Bill Clinton has made all the money he has made since leaving the office of president by speaking to poor people or dealing with poverty issues. This is very troubling to me.

12. I guess that trumps his efforts to highlight poverty, Katrina victims, working class, uninsured...
What exactly are you saying about what is really important?

I am sure Democrats everywhere have struggled with that conundrum every time they voted to reelect Teddy Kennedy to the Senate. AFter all, he is a rich white guy....

Does anyone doubt the populist motives of Senator Ted or Bobby Jr. or so many others in that extended, yet very rich white family? (just to keep it current).

17. The rich one will always win
no matter the sex or color. They're just not going to run anyone who isn't in that particular club.

The best we can ever expect is a rich one who remembers where s/he came from, or one who was born rich and is aware of a need to pay it back instead of just grabbing more and more.

Remember, FDR was a rich white guy.

18. Believe It or Not Sometimes a Rich White Guy is Right
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 01:00 PM by Rabo Karabekian
This is too much like what the right-wing thinks. You have to live like Tarzan to be an environmentalist, and any rich person who supports policies that benefit the poor and middle class is hopelessly misguided.

19. What I find amazing about Edwards....
...is that he is very concerned and committed to helping the
poor and underprivileged. He has no problem visiting slums
and places that many candidates wouldn't dare visit.

Edwards has cared about the disparity between the rich and the
poor in this country---when absolutely no one was listening.
In fact, the issue probably hurt Edwards, because people the
issue wasn't as exciting as "terrorists" or "security." The
Republicans tore him to shreds for his "Two Americas" statements,
and he was positioned as unpatriotic for speaking the truth.

How many rich people do you know---who are extremely concerned
about the underprivileged?

Edwards grew up in a working class family. He doesn't come
from a long line of privilege. He worked hard and became
wealthy due to his talent---which was defending ordinary
citizens against greedy corporations that did harm to consumers.

Not everyone with money is a jerk. Conversely, a low net worth
doesn't mean that someone is a great person.

the reason Obama would win is because of his race. No difference.
