Giuliani Recommendation to Head Homeland Security Indicted 14 counts....LINK
There should be no political cover for Rudy when it comes to Kerik. In fact, there are credible sources who believe that Giuliani lied under oath in the investigation of Kerik. Wonder how long it will take Rudy's opponents to dig that one out?

The soft-padded reporting on this does not begin to explain the close interrelated business and political relationship that Giuliani and Kerik have shared over the years. Read it for yourself at the link provided below:

"NEW YORK, Nov 9 Reuters) - Former New York police commissioner and Rudy Giuliani protege Bernard Kerik was indicted on 14 federal counts including fraud, obstructing an FBI investigation and lying to the federal government, the U.S. attorney said on Friday."

<snip>

"New York television stations WABC and WNBC reported that Kerik had already surrendered to federal officials on Friday. A court hearing was scheduled for later in the day.

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York called a news conference with the FBI and the Internal Revenue Service later on Friday to announce the indictment at the courthouse in White Plains, just north of New York City, where the grand jury was investigating Kerik's finances and business dealings."

<snip>

"Kerik, 52, and Giuliani were also business partners and, with Giuliani's backing, Kerik was nominated by President George W. Bush in 2004 to be secretary of Homeland Security."

1. Smoking Gun: Bernard Kerik Indicted (29 page indictment on line)
NOVEMBER--Bernard Kerik, the former New York City police commissioner and current Rudolph Giuliani political albatross, was indicted today on a slew of federal criminal charges. Kerik, 52, was named today in a 16-count indictment charging him with, among other felonies, fraud, tax evasion, obstruction, filing a false loan application, and making an assortment of false statement when applying for several federal posts, including the Homeland Security secretary's post. A copy of the indictment, unsealed today in U.S. District Court in White Plains, New York, can be found below. Kerik is accused of corruptly accepting money and "other things of value" in exchange for using his public posts to benefit a company seeking municipal business. He was also charged with concealing from the Internal Revenue Service more than $500,000 in income, including about $75,000 he received for a book forward he wrote. Additionally, in 2003, Kerik allegedly falsely told his accountant that he made $80,000 in charitable contributions, information that was later used in the preparation of a false tax return. Six counts in the indictment refer to false statements Kerik made while seeking several federal jobs, including a post with the Iraqi Coalition Provisional Authority and the Homeland Security chief's job. These alleged lies involved Kerik's tangled financial dealings and his failure to withhold taxes from a household employee. (29 pages)
