Big article in the paper said we could see $4 before too long.

Boy am I glad I bought my Toyota Yaris. 36 miles to the gallon in town. Nothing fancy about it but it gets me around just fine.

1. Premium went to $3.47 where I live
I predicted $4 by Memorial day... Probably off by several months from the look of things.

2. Where are you?
We are usually quite a bit under what people pay on the coasts.

30. Same here in
itty bitty hamlet just east of the Quad Cities on the Il/IA border. That's what it was yesterday, anyway. I am afraid to venture out today to see what it has skyrocketed to.

7. $2.89 was the cheapest for regular gas I found in my northeast MA town last night
That's up over a dime from my last fill-up. Most stations are between $2.90 and $3.00 around here.

8. More scary is that diesel went up 6 cents this morning
It's now 3.55 near me.

I'm afraid for the cold states and the low-income, fixed budget people. How can you afford rising food prices and heating costs, not to mention gas for getting to your job?

These are frightening times.

9. I paid $3.19/gallon for diesel last Friday
I saw it at one place (that's usually higher than other gas stations) had it at $3.39 yesterday.

I do worry about those that use heating oil.

19. As an ex Indie trucker their days are numbered. The 90's was great with Diesel at 99cents
but I couldn't imagine a fill up at $3.50 which is what Diesel is here in Michigan.

12. right behind you in SE texas
we were at $2.90 tuesday (i have been sick and haven't left the house since then).

i live in one of the biggest refining areas of the country and usually our gas is cheap compared to everyone else. not anymore.

i try not to complain about the price because i hope high prices will lead to less consumption and more research into alternatives but it does hurt when it costs $40+ to fill my cavalier with its 13 gal tank.

14. A TV economist predicted $4 a gal. in two weeks time.
easily. As soon as that happens everything that relies on transportation for any part of its existence, will raise prices or cut services.
Just in time for winter. But that top 1% will at least be toasty warm and well fed during the coldest months. Bush's base.

I think I am seeing lots more really small cars on the road now. There are lots out that look just like my Yaris - tiny hatchbacks.

32. I bought mine used before the gas got really high.
By that time, Toyota had decided to stop sales in the US.

I saw the writing on the wall. It is almost impossible to find a used one now.

It seems the little Echo has something of a cult following.

20. Confirmed. I live in Independence, and it was 40 cents cheaper
ten days ago. Now, like you said, it's $2.99. I drive a 13 year old Taurus, just had new tires put on and got a tune up, and the best I get is 25 mpg.

31. Even Bernake is admitting big oil greed is destroying the country.
When a died in the wool corporatist is telling Exxon to cool it because they are sucking the life out of Walmart then it's getting pretty damn bad.
