January was warmest ever recorded in the whole planet
Edited on Thu Feb-15-07 11:20 PM by antiimperialist
The temperature of the world’s land and water combined — the most effective measurement — was 1.53 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than normal, breaking the old record by more than one-quarter of a degree. Ocean temperatures alone didn’t set a record.

4. yes OP mistyped
it is indeed the warmest JANUARY not the warmest MONTH

if it was the warmest month we could just hang it up right now and party like it's 1999 because it would be all over but the shouting

5. Don't count that til Feb is over.
I remember days in the mid 70s in late February. It could still average out.

11. I can tell you that February 2004 was colder than Feb. 2007 so far
Edited on Thu Feb-15-07 11:23 PM by antiimperialist
The only way February could be said to be making up for January is if it were found to be the warmest February recorded in the globe.

This month temperatures in the US have been -3.14 colder than normal.
But the first two weeks of Feb. 2004 were, in that order, -3.66 and -4.06.

it's been for a thousand years."

And I guar-on-TEE that Rush Limpballs claimed that, because that's where my friendly neighborhood Freep gets his opinions.

"Move on, folks, nothing to see here. No Global Warming, it's just that the Sun is hot. Move on, now, nothing to see here."

Amazingly enough, I didn't clock him for saying something that stupid. Gotta keep peace in the neighborhood, and all.

6. That's totally insane
The Northern Hemisphere gets the temperature swings... the Southern Hemisphere is pretty even, all things considered.

If it's truly the warmest month ever, just WAIT till the Northern Summer. :wow:

13. Oh crap.
this is the biggest oh crap of all. If the warming trend continues to be this pronounced and profound, we are in some deep shit regarding global food supplies.
