We do not need to unITE. we need to unTIE.

Uniting with people who have done nothing but trash our values for decades is not a step I long to take.

How MANY times will their failed policies have to be exposed, before people wake up and smell the coffee?

Why on earth would any sane person even want to unite with people who have done everything humanly possible to deny rights to just about every group of people that they personally do not belong to.

Our representatives need to unTIE themselves from the apron strings of the "colleagues on the other side of the aisle".

These are the wafflers who blast away at funding research on diseases..(until they or someone in their family gets it)

These are the nut-cases who will happily fund wars (but never seem to get around to having their own progeny sign up..and often they have never served either)

These are the fruitcakes who never met an "illegal" they didn't hate, but don't mind having "Margarita" babysit & iron for them, and like the way "Jose" washes the cars & keeps the lawn.

These are the people who gleefully play games in congress to thwart anything even remotely in the public interest, but blissfully suckle at the teat of the lobby sows.

These are the people who grudgingly "accept" their own children's sexual preferences if they are not the "Christian-values-norm" , but repeatedly make laws that infringe on the rights of those same children.

These are the people who worship the uterine contents of women, yet willingly ignore those "contents" when they turn into children.

These are the people who have seen to it that what news we get, is hopelessly slanted, and mostly devoid of reality.

They support the Christianization of the educational system, but seem to have forgotten the part about money for school books, teachers' salaries, and maintenance on buildings.

These are but a few of the reasons why "uniting" with people like these, is a very bad idea.

The damage they have done is long-lasting, and even though it would seem fitting to say they need to "clean up their own mess", we all know that is just not possible..

Sometimes you just need to throw shit out, and start over..

We cannot afford the luxury though, of just "moving on" and never punishing the ones who have caused so much harm. As vindictive as it may sound, there HAS to be accountability for the ones who have damaged our country. Why is it that government is the one place where a rule-breaker/law-breaker would stand the best chance of getting away with it?

A kid who holds up a 7-11 for a few bucks will do jail time, yet white collar government-types get to walk away and are often promoted. Once out of office, they just enter the revolving door and emerge as a lobbyist, conning and cajoling their former partners in crime.

I have NO interest in "working with them", "getting along", "moving forward".. or whatever new terminology comes along.

DiFi may be willing to sell her cooperation for a plane ride and some scrambled eggs, but I am NOT.

1. I especially like your observation on accountability of crime.
Those same people who were saying Bush commuting the Scooter sentence was no big deal or even 'justice', are the same ones who salivate to keep people behind bars and build more prisons and 3 strikes etc. Sure, a case could be made to let someone who holds up a convenience store to go free: it costs more money to prosecute and house the criminal than whatever he stole, the convenience guy/gal should have had a gun, prisons are too overcrowded for anything but hardcore. I don't believe these things, but a case could be made.

Cheney, Addington, Bush, Rice, and the whole sorry lot belong in incarceration as much as any petty thief. They should AT THE LEAST, be impeached, for those that are applicable, and for the rest, whatever other penalties that apply.

3. They really should be returning Dick Cheney's sentiment
and tell them to "go fuck themselves."

And considering the "uniting" some here are recommending I certainly don't want any of it.
