1. McCain is borderline senile

5. Huckabee almost makes sense
if you take away the Fair Tax thing and the religious insanity, you've got an OK candidate. Listen to him talk about jobs and healthcare. He's the only one of them that I don't think would be a complete trainwreck.

11. Actually, what I am concerned about is
a Romney/ Huckabee ticket. A former Baptist minister, he gives cover to Romney with the right wing religious. I'm not concerned about them winning, but with a number of the right wing religious finding Romney "acceptable" now and Huckabee helping to energize their base, it could prevent the entire election from being a disaster for the Republicans. Add to that a Clinton/? ticket and their base is energized, ours is sitting it out ( voting dem but not doing the door to door), and it saves a few Senate seats and they keep a few more in the House. Actually, I think that is also why the Republicans want Clinton to run. She energizes their base, leaves ours cold.

My Republican favorite: Guliani/

15. Great analysis of a potential threat.
Why, why, why does Hillary seem so certain to get the nom??? Edwards, Obama, and even Biden would be so much better in the general.

7. Thompson would be easy to beat. He is pathetic!
I think we can beat Rudy as he has a lot of baggage. Romney might be tough but he could lose some Southern states because of his Religion. McCain would have been tough a few years ago but he has flip flopped on so many things now I think he is toast. The rest of the field is lame though Huckabee might bring out the Religious Right.

10. Well, if we're going for easiest to beat...
Make it Tancredo. Guy's dumb as a post.

With Frederick of Hollywood, he might get the sympathy vote if we pile on.

But these are all good problems for us to have.

8. Really, really want Rudy.
Edited on Mon Nov-05-07 06:41 PM by bunkerbuster1
He's certainly beatable, but that's not why I want him.

I want the 9/11 mythology to be demolished once and for all. Any Democratic opponent will have to attack Rudy on his 9/11 bullshit because that's all Rudy has to run on.

Exposing our infantalism in the wake of 9/11 will be of benefit to us all.

19. me too, Ron Paul
we could actually have an election that was about issues and ideas! not lies and talking points.

I disagree with him on most issues, but I respect his honesty and conviction.

13. I think Mitt would be the easiest to defeat overall
I think many fundies in the South wouldn't vote for him. They won't vote Democratic either, but if they sit out the presidential race or vote third party it only helps Democrats.

14. I Don't Want Ron Paul to be President, But If He Won The Repiglican Nomination
That would likely push HRC (or whoever) into an anti-war stance.

16. He'd Be A Gift That Keeps Giving
I still expect Paul to run third party after all this is done. But, for shits and giggles let's say he is the GOOP nominee. That'd rip that party to shreads. It'd be like Democrats nominating Pat Robertson.

Consider if Paul is the GOOP candidate, he'll get little support from many factions of the party...they'll sit home rather than go with someone whose an outsider. He'd all but ensure a Democratic win...Hillary or even a Dennis Kucinich.

Bottom line...a majority of Repugnican voters have blood on their hands and love this war and all thing boooshie. Paul is an intruder in their party and could never consolidate the entire party behind him.

20. Might Be Worth Crossing Over to Vote for Ron Paul in the Repiglickin Primary
if the Democratic race is a done deal by the time our primary comes around.

Ron Paul would really throw the Repig party off their game.

21. Boy, that's a really big "it depends" kinda deal...
If the Dem nominee is sewn up by the time your primary comes around, maybe.

But I couldn't in good conscience vote for Ron Paul, no matter how delicious it would be if the man actually won a few delegates to take to the convention and be the turd in the punchbowl.

18. Thompson is our man: He's a fugly, old womanizer
No way the public will go for that, not even Law and Order fans (is that his show? I don't even know!).

Giuliani is too risky. Huckabee is likeable. Romney, IMO, is as fake as they come (I know he's hiding something), but I wouldn't be surprised if the public went for him.
