Forget Al Gore for President, but...

I think he has a really bad taste in his mouth and doesn't want to go there again. i don't blame him.

But I think if you put him in charge of the EPA, he would totally shine.

2. I made this suggestion a few months ago
and was summarily flamed for daring to reduce the Deity Al Gore to a cabinet position. Better get your suit on...

3. I can't see Al Gore as some agency head.....
If he's not going to run for president, he's far more effective in his current role than he would be as an underling in a presidential administration. Been there, done that.

5. I'm not sure
He's not comfortable being a front-man. GWB is. But he's very passionate about his real interest, and I'm not totally sure this would be viewed as a "demotion" - it would be solely for his taking - or if it had to be be a cabinet position, maybe Secretary of the Interior (I'm not totally sure of all the cabinets and their hierarchies, so forgive me if I get this wrong). I think if he had an official standing to promote his concerns, without the hassle of getting elected, he might just go for it.

But what the hell do I know. It's not like he's going to pick up the phone tonight and ask my advice (although you could PM me, Al, if you want my number).

4. He has ABSOLUTELY no interest in a cabinet or federal position:
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0705/22/lkl.01.html

CALLER: Thank you, Mr. King.

Mr. Gore, given the foreign policy expertise that you have exhibited on Mr. King's show tonight and the expertise that you gave to the administration of President Bill Clinton, would you consider the secretary of state position in a Democratic presidential administration?

GORE: Thank you for your kind words, but, no.

KING: No cabinet position?

GORE: No.

KING: No federal position?

GORE: No. Not because I don't have the greatest respect for what an honor it would be to serve in such a position, but I have -- I have zero interest in doing something like that.

Now THAT'S a "Sherman statement" if ever I heard one.

7. He re-affirmed that position today on the Today Show. I'm not forgetting him. There
is too much on the line.

8. I do NOT uderstand why this word cannot also come out of his mouth
when asked if he will run for President, instead of the other ambiguous stuff...he apparently knows how to say No very well.

6. I don't think he wants to run, either.
I'd love to see it happen, but I just don't think it will. While I agree that he would do a fine job at the EPA too, I'm not so sure he would do that either. I think Gore is going to work from what ever position that he thinks he can do the most good. If that position happens to be one in which others think he will do good, that will just be a coincidence. In my opinion, Al Gore is not prepared to be drafted to do anything -- he will do what he feels is the right thing.
