Diebold/Premier Admits Memory Card Failure On Popular Optical-Scan Voting Machines

Diebold/Premier Admits Memory Card Failure On Popular Optical-Scan Voting Machines
With Elections Impending Next Week, Company Downplays, Hides Failure Rate

Will The U.S. Elections Assistance Commission Take Action?...

Saturday's Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that Diebold Election Systems, now having renamed itself Premier Election Solutions, has admitted that some of its 25,000 optical scan voting machines used in Florida and elsewhere across the nation may have a problem that causes memory card failures during elections.

Naturally, they're actively trying to cover up the breadth of the problem which could effect elections nationwide this Tuesday.

And, naturally, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is unlikely to do a thing about it...

1. Hunh...why wasn't this discovered before? Why is there no
government auditing of these machines..since these machines play such a vital role in our democracy?

They should make the use of these machines illegal.

2. In our county as we hand out ballots we have a 'tear off' reciept of that ballot
the poll workers balance the ballot receipts against the scanner totals. if they don't balance we automatically recount by hand.

at least with scanners there is a paper ballot to check unlike the touchscreens.....

3. Forced paper ballot counting due to memory card failure - same as in 2004
when 13,000 Ballots were rushed to be recounted after a memory card failure at an early polling place in Volusia County, Fla. The ballots were removed from the City Island Library in Daytona Beach and transported to a secure vault in Deland after an optical scan machine failed and manually recounted at Deland.

But without audits (which currently are by law not permitted to occur relative to elections in Florida) there is no real reason to trust the manual count of the paper ballots.

4. Let me translate this for you:
We're going to steal the next election and this is how we're going to do it, and now that we've told you, there's nothing you can do but watch our smoke.

6. For Optical Scam supporters: Its digital vote tabulation, stupid!
Until we remove digital translation from our voting systems, we can NEVER be assured our votes will be counted as intended.
