Tis another painfully unwatchable Meet The Press this morning
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 11:01 AM by Atman
Forty-five minutes of Fred Thompson's monotonous blather, followed by Tom Brokaw and Timmeh reflecting on how great life used to be. Can this show, and Mr. Russert, become any more irrelevant? I used to look forward to spending my Sunday morning reading the newspaper while Russert had some semi-intelligent panel discussions. Now my Sunday paper is just a 3" stack of sale fliers and celebrity gossip reports, and Russert simply lobbing softballs at his Republican buddies while attacking the left.

At least we still have the internet tubes.

2. A Sunday morning habit I haven't broken yet.
A lot of it has to do with timing...our NBC affiliate in Hartford delays it one hour, so it's the only "news" program on at the time.

4. Fred was horrible; turned off Brokaw
Had a strange feeling the '60s he lived through were probably much different than the one I lived through.

5. We flipped to George Stephanopolis when I saw Thompson!
We did come back long enough to see Brokaw....I think both Russert and Brokaw are ready for Shady Pines!

7. What you see on Fox "News" is the sensationalized version of MTP .
It's mere blather and propaganda in both cases, but Fox plays it up 10000 times over.
I never liked Timmy or Tommy. I usually watch Charlie Rose on PBS.

11. And Timmy again managed to get in that he is a Bills fan.
This show is not MTP anymore. It is Meet Tim's Ego.

18. Or, "Meet the Depressed"
That was a rip-off from Malloy.

There was another (1990's) talk show host back when I lived in Orlando, Fl who would refer to the whole Sunday morning show as "CFR Sunday". I've been seeing it as that ever since!

12. I watched it for several reasons. I wanted to see how Tim handled
questioning Fred, and I wanted to see how HE performed with his answers. I'm GLAD I watched!

Fred completely LOST the Evangelical vote when he said "I would NOT support a Fed. law to outlaw abortions. I believe it should be left up to the States. Then on top of that, he said he would NOT support a Fed. law outlawing Gay Marriage. If a State legislature votes to approve and acknowledge Gay Marriage, they should have the right to do so.

He also hemmed and hawed around the Pakistan mess, and said we should STAY THE COURSE in Iraq!

I wanted to see if Fred appeared to have even a small chance of getting the Pub nomination. IMO he does NOT!

In radical contrast, Biden was on "This Week" and Stephanoplous & David Senger (NYT reporer) were asking him for his recommendations regarding Pakistan. Joe answered each question with conviction, honesty, and without hesitation!

17. I didn't realize until this morning that he has LYMPHOMA!
WTF? Vote for a man going through treatment lymphoma? It's not like he's a spring chicken. It's very possible that a vote for Thompson would be more like a vote for his VP, sorry to say.

Oh, and he completely glossed over the story about his drug-dealer adviser who has been flying him around the country on his private plane. He hasn't fired the guy, and tried to say it was no big deal...he's followed all the rules.

The guy is train wreck. I hope the Republicans are stupid enough to nominate him!

16. Brokaw writing a book about the 60's generation?
He mentions writing about Timmeh being at Woodstock. Oh, please. Wonder if he'll also use Limbaugh as an example of a rock radio DJ?

Can't wait to see how he covers Kent State.
