Bush critic to run for Congress

April 6, 2006. Taylor said he has never been more ashamed of U.S. leadership. Audience members at left are reacting to Taylor's comments. (AP Photo/Gerald Herbert)Taking questions from a Charlotte audience 18 months ago, President Bush called on a man who'd raised his hand in the balcony at Central Piedmont Community College.

"I have never felt more ashamed of, nor more frightened, by my leadership in Washington, including the presidency," Harry Taylor proceeded to tell the president. "And I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and the grace to be ashamed of yourself."

Now the Charlotte businessman hopes to go to Washington himself.

Taylor announced on a blog that he plans to run for Congress against Republican Rep. Sue Myrick.

Taylor's formal announcement is scheduled for mid-November. But in a message posted on the Democratic Web site BlueNC, he writes, "I am not a politician, nor have I ever sought to become one. But now, I am so seriously concerned about what is happening to our beloved America, I have decided to run for the U.S. Congress." -- jim morrill

We are falling, and falling fast.

Even now, I think there is a possibility that the same could play out as it did before, because our tranisition from Freedom to Tyranny is uneven and it takes such pains to disguise it's pending approach that even now, the guy might not be tased because to juxtapose brutality at a Kerry event, well, that pays PR and propaganda dividends to the Bushies down the road, plus gives them the Plausible Deniability necessary for all Bushie Crimes and Unethcial Schemes.

"Why are you complaining about Bush, it was at a KERRY event." Misiion accomplished.

But tasing and brutalizing somebody at a Bush event is another matter, the juxtaposition of the ideas is too direct, and not good PR or marketing at all.

Finally, the person was a middle-aged normal-looking white guy, and as such would be a massive PR blunder in that same way. Also, the guy asked his question respectfully as part of the program, which helped, too, maybe most of all. REALLY bad PR to tase someone who looks normal and isn't even making trouble.

It is hard to get a mental grip around the slippery combination of freedom and tyranny we live in as part of our transition to the New Totalitarianism, which I call BushPutinism after it's Founding Fathers. The reason for that is that is is cloaking itself so well, in order to gain totalitarian control before it can be stopped when a majority of people awake.

7. ah, thanks.
I wonder which Dem candidate will copy Bush's methods of crowd control?

I can think of only one - and she voted for the invasion of Iran.

8. Let's just say I find her methods to be disturbingly similar in many areas.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I will vote for Sen. Clinton in Nov. 2008 if she is the Democratic nominee, but she is not my candidate of choice, to say the least.

Becoming more like the Bushies in order to beat the Bushies only legitimizes Bushie criminality and unethicality. As if it wasn't alredy legitimized.

2. THIS is what we need to be seeing.
And every 2 or 3 months I start a thread with this: WE are the ones who need to be running for Congress and state houses and city council, etc. I want to be represented by a truck driver. By a hair dresser. By a teacher. REGULAR people with REGULAR problems. Bravo for this guy and I think WE need to be following his lead.

3. Great idea, but without publicly financed elections, it will never happen.

5. I think it can if its from the ground up.
Not only that, I think there are some Congressional districts that are pretty vulnerable. Also, people from outside the area are willing to donate to a candidate they believe will be a change away from the corporo-whores currently "representing" us. I know I donated to Webb's Senate campaign and I know people from out of state who donated to Debra Bowen's campaign (now CA Secretary of State).

Anything has to be better than the bozos we currently have in office.

4. So rare in America for someone to care more for the country than for their Party
I might just send this guy some money once he establishes his campaign...I refuse to send any to those in Congress now that keep Impeachment "Off the Table". When we as a country refuse to hold criminals accountable then we are not worthy of being..

14. I agree, the past several years have certainly become a bit of an eye opener
on not only politicans but how silent and easily led the citizens of this country had become, its good to see that more and more each day are beginning to realize they have more power than they once thought and are attempting to utilize the very laws that demand we ensure the power of the people remain a key component in enacting laws and demanding our government officials no longer forget just who is the boss here.
