Now Musharraf decides he'd like to stay in power indefinitely.
Next on the agenda??? Chimpolini decides he'd also like to stay in power, stages a neo-Reichstag event, and cancels elections.
Cheney and the Neocons continue to consolidate power and before you know it, our society backslides by 600 years.
Sorry...I'm in a foul and cynical mood.

1. Well, around 2004, people were saying the same thing...
Didn't happen then.

I don't think it's going to happen now.

2. I'll say it again
the President doesn't have the authority to cancel elections.

Elections are state and local functions, not federal ones.

We will have a new President in January, 2009.

3. The chances were 50/50 that I'd snicker at this
But events today got me thinking once again about all the lovely executive powers BushCo have stolen, and how they'll feel about turning it over to the Dems.

And then I think maybe they won't worry about it. Most of our politicians behave like they're on the same despicable team anyway.
