Two recommendations: "Fast Food Nation" and "Secret Societies."
Secret Societies aired last evening on History Channel. I hope it runs again. It was pretty amazing, outlining the connections between Skull & Bones, The Trilateral Commission, the Knights Templar, the whole big giant tin foil hat. I didn't get to see the whole thing, but I think it's safe to assume that equal time was given to the other side, who say it's all crazy talk. But it was pretty fascinating.

On a more grim note, "Fast Food Nation" was a stunner. For some reason, I always thought it was more of a documentary, or like "Supersize Me," so I never bothered to watch it. But holy shit! It really is a MUST SEE. Very political. It was a call-to-action movie about everything wrong with BushCo and our society/economy in general. And I admit, it helped me to understand what these "jobs Americans won't do" are, and why Republicans never get more specific than that, leading you to believe they're talking about gardeners and nannies. They're not. The main theme of the movie was immigration, and the Mexicans coming into America to escape $4-a-day jobs to work in absolutely horrendous conditions. I think the Republicans have at least one valid point -- I can't imagine any American willing to pull the kidneys out of dead cows while standing ankle deep in blood and feces for $8-10/hr. Can you? Maybe a couple of 'em, but not enough to run the meat packing industry, that's for sure. Which, imho, would be a very good thing. Shut the fuckers down, go back to local agriculture. Fast Food Nation was at once eye opening and horrifying. See it. But don't plan on ever eating meat again any time soon.

It's an important film, even if a little bit heavy handed with the politics at times. I give it "Two Throws Up."

1. I'm a VEGAN andfor one reason or another never got to see either
Fast Food Nation or Supersize me ---

but I'll keep it on my list to catch up with ---

Re the History Channel program -- hard to think that people don't understand that we're controlled by hierarchies -- many seen, some unseen.

Jim Marrs has a paperback out on this a few years now -- popular book -- "Rule by Secrecy."

Evidently, you read the message about my daughter ---
I'm really annoyed because she is letting the wrong influences into her life, whereas she should
be influencing people against these industries --- diamonds and animal-exploitation.

It is such violence -- and the jobs!!!! Who could survive it --???
I remember once hearing just the animals squealing in one of these killing yards -- !!!!

It's barbaric which is why they have to keep it hidden ---

Thanks ---

4. I guess it was just a lot better than I expected it to be.
I felt there were problems with it, to be sure. Kinnear's character just disappears without any resolution (don't want to be a spoiler, so I'll say no more, not that it mattered much how it was portrayed). Many of the english-speaking scenes were overly long and preachy, but ironically, the immigrant's roles seemed to have some power (although again, too much stuff just left hanging).

I don't think it was the best movie I've ever seen, by far, but I think the message was powerful. I didn't even realize it was a book. I'll certainly pick it up. Thanks.

Now...have you seen "Secret Societies" on History Channel?
