RICHARD REEVESHer First Ladyship and Those Bad Boys
NOVEMBER 2, 2007
NEW YORK — Now what is it they say? "When the going gets tough, the tough get going"?
Or is it, "Mommy make them stop! They're all picking on me because I'm a girl"?
Or, "If you can't stand the heat, get back in the kitchen"?
Roughed up a bit for the first time in debate by her male opponents, Hillary Clinton called for Mommy and the other girls to make the boys stop. This is the candidate who has been telling us all how she had been making all these tough decisions in the White House while the rest of the Democratic field were just kids in school or hiding out in the cozy corners of old-boy networks.
This was a very bad week for the Democratic front-runner, the first rough patch in a long time for our lady of few mistakes. For the first time, opponents had good and obvious reason to say she's been having it both ways. She's been keeping the boys in line up to now by talking up her White House experience and her travels around the world to go one-on-one with a lot of nasty guys out there, while she was insisting that the guys at home should play nice.
