Seven Years in the Dark Ages.
Who could have imagined that when we stepped into the 21st century, we were entering a repeat of the dark ages. But it was no accident. The lunatic right had been planning it for decades. And their opportunity came when they stole the White House and installed a sociopath and his puppet master.

Our current nightmare didn’t all happen in a week, a month, or a year. But look where our rulers have brought us in seven years. -- Science is heresy. “Enhanced interrogation” is torture. Health care for children is a waste of money. Invading a country for profit is fine. Screw the wounded and maimed. Laws and rights are subject to instant change. If you can’t afford to live, die.

It’s a country in which Torquemada, Vlad the Impaler, or Attila the Hun would have felt right at home. And there’s nothing to guarantee that it won’t continue. Other people are lined up to take over the throne and many of them are also insane. (Rudy would probably be a “hands-on” kinda’ guy in the torture department.)

But that assumes that our current maniacs are planning to leave. After all, why amass total power and then give it up? And if they decide to stay, who’s going to make them go? “We the People” are now “We the Peasants.” Giving up rights is easy. Getting them back is virtually impossible.

So what are your plans if January 20th, 2009 rolls around and we find that the agony of this nightmare is going to continue?

1. It is hard to believe that in 2000 we were smack dab in the heart of the Age of Information
which was put to death with extreme prejudice by BushCo, who simply hates information all-together, and much prefer to make policy based on the Rapture.

2. I'm not going to
indulge in secular apocalyptism or dystopian fantasies. And yes, I see it as an indulgence and not a constructive one. Putting negative energy into anything is a waste of time. Working with the negativity that confronts us in the present, isn't. And that is NOT denial. It's a refusal to give in to the prevailing order of things.

4. apocalyptism? fantasies?
I'd describe it as looking at reality. And you can't change reality until you recognize it as such.

But aside from lttes, emails and letters to congress, marches and demonstrations, what can "We the Peasants" actually do to change the current reality? I don't think that positive thinking is going to be sufficient to effect change. Is there something we're not doing that you suggest we do?

5. Perhaps you would have been more comfortable if I used the
phrase dystopian narratives.

I can only suggest that you stay in the present and not get overwhelmed by the possible future. Are you satisfied with your representation in Congress and in your state house? If not, support challengers. Work on the campaign of someone you believe in, and yes, keep writing letters and marching.

3. 'We the Peasant, , Peons and Serfs' would need to take matters.......
into our own hands and reclaim our nation from the despots and tyrants.
