dont be worried about america
trouble is we were raised and sold a bill of goods about what a good American should be. A nice shopper who is content with the latest gadget and doesn't apply too much time to thinking. A zombie in essence. In any case, the bush slug fest is merely a repeat of previous incidents. Father McCloughlin prior (or during not sure)to world war 11 railing against the jews; McCarthy railing communists and putting american citizens on trial for daring to think aloud and now this vestige of placenta in the white house. this too will pass but no longer will we return to our so called glory.

6. i can worry till i die of high blood pressure
or console myself that history has its ups and downs and this is a particularly nasty down - in time things should (hopefully) correct themselves. Well if history is any guide they should

8. Pettiness?
You were using historical examples to illustrate your point. You might as well get the historical personages right.

10. Not to put too fine a point on it...
but that's Father Coughlin.

Who knows what he really said?

How many were alive to hear his diatribes?

Well, here's your chance, folks.

I haven't listened yet, but we're only taking others' words for it.

9. Wish I had your confidence.
The plan's pretty much documented in Naomi Wolf's book The End of America. While people think that the pendulum always swings back, the truth is that it doesn't. The fascists push the pendulum way out to the fascism side of the scale, then with a loss of liberty here, a loss of liberty there, they clamp the pendulum, and there is no swing back.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be cleaning my guns...

12. No, this is worse
This is like all the bad episodes rolled up in one. The gilded age, the red scare, the Sedition Act, civil rights assault, Vietnam; along with some new wrinkles like the unitary executive, rendition, and the doctrine of preventive war. Add the new info about Blackwater and their connection to the most radical Christian groups, and there's no way you can think this is just another bad period of history.

14. i understand what you're saying, but the big difference is that these
people weren't sitting on a throne in the white house--they weren't running the country (into the ditch!)
