Hillary can't pull out the gender card, but Obama can play the race one?
Bill Richardson had Barack Obama (and John Edwards) pegged just right at the debate, when he mentioned their "holier than thou" attitude towards Sen. Clinton.

Obama on the Today show this AM (w/ the help of Andrea Mitchell's hit piece and Matt Lauer's questioning) accused Sen. Clinton of playing the gender card. And he said that during the first Iowa debate when he was being questioned about his views for the fisrt 15 minutes, he said he didn't assume it was because he looked differrently than everyone else on the stage.

Well make no mistake: Barack Obama doesn't hesitate to play the race card.

Just a few weeks ago, he appeared on Tom Joyner's show, and Tom was doing his usual bidding to get every person in Black America to support Obama.

During the interview, Tom said that if every Black person supporting Sen. Clinton would support Obama instead, the race would be different. Obama agreed, saying "Her lead would virtually be gone."

He then said "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity." Meaning that he believes, in all of his arrogance, that Black America will never again have the chance to vote for a Black man for President, so we as Black America need to take this opportunity now.

Well I'm sorry Barack, but I don't believe this is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity. I believe we in the Black community will see other Blacks run for President years on down.

3. You're right!
In fact I'm sure that I heard a distinct "clanking" when she walked onto the stage....

4. There are some black ladies in the House who knock me out every time they speak.
I don't know them well enough yet to remember names. But we are growing an amazing crop of future candidates and I'm having no problem with thinking of a black woman as my president. (Okay, I always wanted Barbara Jordan to run. And that was back when it was "impossible.")

6. Impossible?
Back when you say it was "impossible" for a woman to run for President, there was, in fact a woman -- an African American woman -- who ran for President.

Her name was Shirley Chisholm.

And she was brilliant and she knocked ME out every time she spoke.

5. LOL. I don't know where to start
Actually, I see no problem with either HRC or BO making reference to their gender/race... With the right audience, it's refreshing to hear "real talk" once in a while. Neither of them are playing cards--they're just telling the truth about their experiences. Unfortunately, BO is probably right about not seeing another black wo/man run anytime soon. Our own party does a shittier job than the repugs at putting blacks in high positions of power.

7. apparently, just BEING black is "playing the race card" nowadays...
Gawd, what an outstandingly asinine post.

And this is GD. That's saying a lot.

8. You're the one w/ the assinine post my ingorant friend
Because when Tom Joyner suggested every Black person now supporting Clinton get behind Obama, his response SHOULD NOT have been to concur and say that her lead would virtually be gone. His response should have been "I don't want anyone voting for my simply b/c I'm A-A. I want people to vote for me based on what I intend to do to turn this country around."

And I stand by my statement that Obama is arrogant to think this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance; that we'll never have another chance to vote for a Black man for President.

Get your head out the sand and THINK before accusing someone of an assinine post, when you're the assinine one.

9. so post the transcript
Right now.

Your only excuse for calling anyone "ignorant" is the fact that many of us must rely on your characterization of a conversation that we ourselves didn't hear.

Because your OP portrayed one guy as saying that if all blacks were to support Obama, Obama would have the lead; and Obama as agreeing that this was the case; and Obama as further adding his opinion that this election was a "once in a lifetime opportunity". Well, that just sounds like two statements of fact plus an easily disputable, but hardly "offensive" opinion.

So post actual the transcript, why don't you?

12. Go here to listen to the interview
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 07:14 PM by journalist3072
Visit the following link:

http://www.blackamericaweb.com/site.aspx/tjms/missed/celebrity

Scroll down, and you will see "Senator Barack Obama checks in with the TJMS from the campaign trail." You can listent to the interview there.

And when Tom Joyner says that if all the Black people supporting Sen. Clinton would get behind Barack, Barack might have the lead, and Barack says that Sen. Clinton's lead would "virtually fanish" (or "virtually be gone").

And just to offer you some more perspective:

When Tom Joyner had Michelle Obama on the show not too long ago, he asked her "What is up with Black women?" Meaning, there is something wrong with any Black woman who is not support Barack Obama for President.

Also, one time Tom had Rep. Kendrick Meek of Florida on his show. Rep. Meek is endorsing Sen. Clinton. And the first question Tom asked Kendrid Meek was "There's a perfectly qualified Black man running for President. Why aren't you supporting Sen. Obama?"

We'd immediately hear comparisons between Clarence Thomas and Barack Obama.
