And here it finally comes! Gas up $0.50/gal in the last week!
Last week, gas was around $2.65-$2.70 at most places...some even lower.

Today? $3.15 all across the city. And all at the time of year gas is usually at least 20% off its summer peak.

WHEEEEE!!!!!!!!

"Heckuva job, George!"

1. $100 a barrel for oil.
If this does hold up into next year, the GOP is sunk!

2. I'll Ask Again...
Are you willing to endure $5+/Gallon prices, if it means the repub party will be swept from office in '08?

This will be the final nail in their coffin. Sorry, but it's going to be painful for many, but if you STILL don't feel the need to sacrifice for the good of the country, perhaps you should go rent the movie "V"

4. Oh, I've seen that film. and I can handle higher gas prices because I make a good living.
But the rest of America...already living paycheck-to-paycheck...an extra $50/mo. is make or break on necessities.

5. Sorry, guys...
...but $5/gallon gas would mean bankruptcy for a large portion of the population, especially those who live in the west (where communities developed in the postwar era of big highways and little public transportation). While we wouldn't be pushed that far, it's entirely possible that, if gas wound up at that level for an extended time, we'd have no choice but to sell the house and start renting closer to town. :-( And, no, I'm not willing to accept that, especially if the only "improvement" that means is "President Hillary."

18. For me personally it would be no big deal.
A gas tank lasts a couple months for me unless I go out of town.

Silly me made a conscious decision during the first Gulf War to set up my life so that I'd consume as little oil as possible.

However, the residual effects would be a bit annoying. Everything I buy would go up in price since trucks are how goods are transported in this country.

I really think it's kind of a silly question though since the price of gas might not be the decisive issue in the campaign. Aren't there plenty of other reasons to sweep the Repukes from office?

15. When I started my small business I was able to charge $45 per hour
and still make a reasonable profit (I repair computers ON SITE throughout Dallas Texas- a VERY large and spread-out city). I had to raise my rates to sixty bucks simply to pay for my gas. How much more can I raise my rates and still expect clients to pay for my services? (I serve a whole lot of lower-level wage earners who can barely afford the cost right now. Do I maintain a razor-thin profit margin or start giving away my services at a loss because it's all going into my gas tank?)

Well I was right your food your health care your fuel everything. I can't give you any advice at this point you have to do what you can to keep your head above water to keep your business.

17. I paid $3.19 for diesel last night in Texas.
I remember when we pumped oil here and our gas was cheaper than everybody elses.

22. I've been paying $2.99/gallon for diesel forever
I haven't filled up in a couple of weeks, but I expect the price to be around $3.19 now too. :(

At least I'm getting 42 mpg. :P

And my new promotion at work will include 1 full tank of gas a month, so that's like half of what I use.
