BAGHDAD - Five people were killed and four injured in a wave of violence in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk on Wednesday - three of them from the same family shot dead in a US raid, according to police and hospital sources.
Three people from the same family were shot dead in a US Army raid on homes in the district of Wasiti in Kirkuk, 250 kilometres north of Baghdad, the sources told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
In a separate attack, a member of a tribal council involved in a crackdown against Al Qaeda was killed and three others were injured when gunmen opened fire on their car on the Kirkuk-Mosul road.
Meanwhile, the chief judge of the Kirkuk appeals court, Zahir al- Bayati, survived an assassination attempt, the sources said.
