Role of terrorism in '08: Will he/she keep us safe ?

Since terrorism has been an issue now in one presidential election, I was wondering what your thoughts are on its role for '08. Of course, many things can happen between now and (and just before) the 2008 election. *Assuming* that OBL is still at large (or at least unaccounted for) for all of 2008 and that the overall level of terrorism threats does not increase, how much of a role do you think this issue will have on the election ? Yes, I know that those two assumptions can easily be wrong. If he is "captured" somehow by Bush, I would think that would give a boost to the Republicans. If the level of terrorism threats goes "up" overall against the USA, then my guess is that the most stridently anti-terrorism candidate ( Ghouliani ?) would benefit. Your thoughts ?

1. Not to be a dick about it, but we over-react to everything.
American's are robots and have very quickly learned to fear whatever they are told might hurt them. We're a bunch of pussies.

If we don't secure our borders, air and cargo terminals, then we haven't actually done anything to stop another attack. Unfortunately, the Repukes will spin it so it's the Democratic congress' fault and, by extension, any Democrat running for office.

Yes, the Rethugs are at fault, but all they have to do is sling the first dollop of BS and it'll stick to the Democrats, same as it has for the past seventeen years.
