Kommiecast VS Kieth. Pacific N. W. Customers forced to upgrade!
I'm not loving it...
I just had to get a gigantic box, replete with gigantic remote. They isolated and I do mean isolated Kieth Olbermans show to top it off...

He used to be sandwiched in the rest of the cable news channels. Now he's on a pay to play basis only & they put him at channel 128,nowhere near any other active channel. How Kafka-Esq.

Not only that, this "box" is remotely activated & I'm certain if they wanted it could be used for monitoring things other than my channel choices.

Then there's the fact I need a box for EVERY TV in the house...Ok I know I have choices there but as a news addict & C-span junkie I have TV's in my workshop, living room etc... My freaking choice but now I need $60.00 worth of ugly hardware to get the service I HAD YESTERDAY??

This is not an upgrade & I'm pretty sure I know which way this wind is blowin...Can't have any pesky TRUTH leaking out now can we.

1. Thank Gore for the Internets!
I ditched my TV almost a year ago, but I never miss Olbermann, thanks to _MSNBC on line_.

I have to watch it in parts and a couple hours later, but that's noooo problem! :)

2. Comcast representative told me they did it in anticipation of the 2009 digital upgrade.

Sorry for your pain, but the freebees on TV are all going to be much less available in the early part of 2009.

You may even have to get new TVs also, (or sign up for cable, which will give you a digital to analog backtrack option). Did you know about this?

Our engineering department has a countdown to February 2009 clock when all of this becomes a fact of life. I asked questions in 2000 about the switch, but was told not to worry. It was years away then!

In peace,

Radio Lady Ellen, volunteer broadcaster in Oregon

3. Here's a Lil tidbit.....Rummy was CEO of the company that made the convertor box!
From the Wiki...
Donald Rumsfeld served as CEO of General Instrument from 1990 to 1993.

Now I am a bit prone to exagerated imagination-when left to my own that is. But I believe this doth STINK!!!

Thanks Radio Lady Ellen...I believe some clever tinkering may be in order. I'm sure some wizardly type can fix up a remedy.
A re-brodcast on the abandoned bandwidth?-Pirate station style?
Heck-there's a idea that needs re-inventing,Pirate stations!!
