Poll question: If you were obsessed about a subject, would start an endless string of threads?
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 07:37 PM by Buzz Clik
The Democratic Party is a huge tent. We have rabid atheists and devout Christians; gays, straights, and closet homophobes; pro-choice advocates and pro-lifers; feminists and not-so-feminists; crazed environmentalists and environmental pragmatists; animal rights advocates and those less passionate about the subject. You get it -- the big tent.

Let's say one of the Democratic candidates appears to be apathetic or worse about your issue -- maybe you're a member of PETA and her husband wears alligator shoes and she doesn't seem to care.

So, is it possible for you to take a stand by either starting a thread or voicing support for another thread, or will you spend an entire week flooding DU trashing your target?

1. It's a total package thing for me -
I'd sacrifice my greatest pet issue if another candidate who doesn't support it is stronger in more things than the candidate who is in favor of my pet issue.

Because I know that a perfect candidate will never come along, because none of us are perfect.

So I have to look at the whole package.

get pretty tiresome after a while.

I fear if I said such a thing (after a very busy day of having posts deleted), I would be treated to an unpaid leave of absence.

36. Every once in a while the voice of reason pops out.
None of the candidates "do it" for me. I wait until the last minute and then vote the one I feel has the best shot at winning the WH. None of them have inspired me to campaign for them this time around.

I wish the nomination BS would be over with so we can all come together and start working to get our Nominee elected.

41. Absolutely! I've long given up the idiotic hope of exepecting perfection in others.
It's completely unrealistic and childish.

It's always about taking the best of the bunch that's offered, whether it's presidential candidates or oranges in the produce section.

And I'm tired of the nomination BS, too. For Christ's sake, how many debates do we need? But then, I proffer, so long as the debates they keep staging are asking ignorant and irrelevant questions, and allowing candidates to not give answers, we need hundreds of them.

I say we have one debate - one GOOD debate, with real questions, and the expectation that real answers will be given, with a pit bull moderator that will keep saying "do it over" every time they go off question, make shit up, or otherwise refuse to actually answer the *@(#&%& question.

Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 07:01 PM by kdmorris
"rabid vs devout" "crazed vs pragmatists" and the really nice one, not from you, but from Rabrrrrrr... asshats. Where it the tent? Are you not just fanning the fires. People who are upset by this aren't the only ones starting threads about it. After all, YOU just started a thread to take them to task, thereby keeping it going and minimizing it at the same time, by putting up a little poll that says "SEE... no one else would do it!".

Edited to add the correct number of r's to his name.

38. Judging by the poll results so far, that's a pretty safe bet.
Also, it is my experience that when you confront an obsessive/compulsive person about their habits, the reaction is always, "Huh?"

9. Well I know one candidate who is completely bad
on an issue I feel passionately about, but I am keeping it to myself until after the election, because I know it would do no good to post it on DU.

There are things that we give our hearts to, and I defy anyone to post "reasonably" on those issues, when someone is on the opposite side of the fence.

Isn't the point of the primaries to vet the candidates on issues and fitness for the position? If you wait it might be to late.

28. It is a issue most people on DU are not concerned about
All it would do is bring out a 100 posters making rude comments. If it were an issue central to the current Democratic Party, then I would bring it up.

And, by far, one of, (if not the most), popular and obligatory aspects of politics.

Instead of being so "smart and passive aggressive", why don't you just shoot straight with us?

Let's say one of the Democratic candidates appears to be apathetic or worse about your issue...

No, let's not do that. How 'bout you just say what's really bothering you?

So, is it possible for you to take a stand by either starting a thread or voicing support for another thread, or will you spend an entire week flooding DU trashing your target?

Even you have to admit, that's cryptic. Again, is there anything specific you want to say or is this all some subjective rant disguised as a poll?

Well of course I can handle it, Buzz. Did you really believe otherwise?!

I'm always grateful for a thread about me. If you really want me to notice you, please don't be so ambiguous in your original post -- ya big tease.

Speaking of your original post, I should probably mention that this is a discussion board. Hate to be the one to break it to you but not many here are posting just to please you. Kinda sucks but there you have it.

If you find this place too unbearable you might want to consider your options:

a) you could use the ignore feature or
b) the hide thread feature or
c) - heck! -- you could even leave.

Thanks again for the thread! You're entirely too kind.

46. Bad news: it isn't about you.
I never noticed you until this thread.

However, this thread sprung from my observation of dozens of identical threads every day dedicated to the same subject by people too obsessed to simply state their feelings and move on.

As for the ignore feature -- that's for spineless toads. However, if this thread is so painful to you, there is the hide feature. Or -- heck! -- you could leave. But don't leave, please. Now that I have gotten to know you, I look forward to continuing our interaction.
