Gore rattles right-wing cages
This was a delightful, refreshing find in a Springfield, Missouri paper no less.

Our Voice Published Monday, October 29, 2007

Gore rattles right-wing cages

The best thing about Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize is that it has driven the Right Wing Nut Farm, home of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, absolutely bonkers.

You thought they were whack-jobs before? Gore has sent them entirely over the edge. I don't listen to right wing radio myself — that stuff sounds ever so much better in the original German — but I'm told the Conservative Blather Machine is foaming at the dipstick over it.

I'm not sure why right-wingers hate Al Gore so much — maybe they can't forgive him for winning the 2000 election — but he sure rattles their cages.

Personally, I'm delighted he won and even more delighted that his crusade against global warming seems to be having some effect.

The nation, ever so slowly, like a giant grizzly rising from hibernation, is beginning to wake to the problem.

In his positive way, he is slapping them silly by being right about almost everything! I hope the ones responsible for the theft of his presidency have trouble sleeping! Now more than ever!

But you've got to admit, it's boys getting married that REALLY gets them worked up. Maybe Al could work that into his spiel and cause a few strokes.

6. a lot of oldtime Republicans admire what Gore has accomplished...there is backlash!
I've heard it. Quite a number of people who call themselves 'oldtime' Republicans say they admire what Al Gore has accomplished. They still would be hard pressed to vote for him, but they have lost all patience with the twirly-eyed foamers who are attacking so maliciously.

I've heard from have gone so far as to say they'd vote for him if he ran.

They're friggin' sick of this shtuff.

21. That's Molly Ivans' line about Pat Buchanan's "Culture War" Speech to th RNC
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 08:04 PM by stlsaxman
"In her syndicated column, which appeared in about 350 newspapers, Ms. Ivins cultivated the voice of a folksy populist who derided those who she thought acted too big for their britches. She was rowdy and profane, but she could filet her opponents with droll precision.

After Patrick J. Buchanan, as a conservative candidate for president, declared at the 1992 Republican National Convention that the United States was engaged in a cultural war, she said his speech “probably sounded better in the original German.”

But I'm praying that the ghost of Teddy Roosevelt hits up Gore's home for some candy and a little chit-chat tonight.

11. Always liked reading Don Kaul, even back to my college days at Iowa...
... when he was a columnist for the Des Moines Register.

Good stuff! Yup, As Melissa Etheridge says in her Oscar winning title song for "An Inconvenient Truth", we all have to collectively "wake up" and get Al Gore to be in charge and work with us to fix the mess we are in. Freepers either need to stand aside or get run over!

48. It's really very simple.
Gore terrifies them. He has the intelligence and clout to unite the country and give the Dems more respect than they have had since Kennedy. And they are guilty: They know the truth, that Gore actually WON the election.

The only way that they can deal with Gore is to discount him.

This actually appeared in the SPRINGFIELD, MO News-Leader? As a lifelong Missouri resident I am quite familiar with the area. Springfield is practically the rectum of the bible belt! Springfield is the town that spawned John Ashcroft (he was born is Chicago but grew up and has spent most of his adult life in the Springfield area).
