Segment on NPR this morning about detecting lies......
The company called No Lie Mri http://www.noliemri.com/ uses MRI technology to detect whether someone is lying and is apparently very good at getting the correct results.
While listening to this segment, I was thinking that this would make a fantastic TV program that would get sky high ratings. Give each of the presidential candidates a 30 minute segment on the show and ask them all the same 10 questions. If any of them declined to be tested, one could assume they have something to hide.(yes, I am being overly idealistic here, because I know it will never happen and I know they would never agree to it, but its fun to conceive the scenario.)

So, my question is...What would you want the Question(s) to be? I am not sure if the questions must be in YES/NO format, but lets assume they do.

My first one would be...Have you always told the truth to your constituents?

There is no doubt, this would be the highest rated program of the season.

1. None of them would pass
I think that anyone wanting to be president should publicly have their head examined as to why they want the job in the first place.

2. Not one would pass.
Politicians HAVE to lie. We force it on them, by expecting them to be all things to all people. But there's a line. BushCo never saw it.

5. IIRC the old saying is...
Most of those that want to be politicians should never be politicians and the people who should be politicians don't want to be politicians.

6. The horrible thing is
that we expect this and even worse, we accept it. Why shouldn't we expect honesty and integrity and not only expect it, but demand it.

3. There's Only One Problem: The Mentally Delusional
They can lie with impunity, because they don't think they ARE lying. Too many like that around to put full trust in the MRI technique!

4. That's what I thought too
We end up getting a sociopath or delusional individual in the White House because, "At least he's honest!"

7. Having been forced now to listen to NPR since AirAmerica left Austin...
I found this story and the one before it regarding the coming recession to be laughable.

what colossal horseshit reporting.

first the rah rah idiot saying that a cut in the federal interest rate will help the economy stave off a major recession. In his worlds, "a short lived mild recession", but the follow up question begging to be asked but never was by the NPR sycophant was, "won't cutting the rate cause inflation?" Whoops.

then this whole bullshit story about the lie machine. it works only if the person lays perfectly still, doesn't flinch, breath, sweat, cough, etc. So basically, if you have a person that acts completely robotic, it will work like a charm. Oh and I just can't wait for tomorrows bullshit installment of figuring out if a person is lying via micro facial changes. :eyes:

holy shit, this is what now passes for fucking news?

:banghead:
