Anyone listening to the caller on Randi Rhodes right now?
He's trying to make the argument that college curriculums are left wing, and "they" leave so many things out that should be taught.

Randi keeps asking him what specific things the colleges leave out, but he can't come up with a cogent answer.

1. Probably a high school drop out.
Edited on Fri Oct-26-07 03:45 PM by rateyes
Not that there aren't some very fine people who didn't graduate high school. I'm just saying that a lot of criticism of higher education comes from those who never participated in higher education.

It's like criticizing a book you've never read.

6. Exactly.
It's just amazing to me that people feel so threatened by "book learnin'".

5. She'd have to talk to people if she can hang up on them.
She hangs up on morons that try to talk over her and not have a conversation.

14. Actually that is not always true.I have heard her hang up on some obvious progressives who have
agreed with her. She can be really rude.As her tolerance is low for idiots, I wondered why she was still talking to this guy. He seems a perfect "hang up" candidate.

You know, like a customer service person hears all day long?

After awhile, you've heard it all before and can see where it's

going and you only have so much time you can be on the phone, so?

You find ways to end the conversation. Sometimes the release button

is the only way!

7. She was trying to get him to see that thinking that college classes
leave a lot of things out (as he said) is a fallacy.

She was pretty patient with him, I have to say.

4. As the current caller is saying, It's paranoia...
They're imagining threats that just aren't there.

That's becoming more and more obvious as the 25% STILL support the massive failure known as BushCo.

9. Right. And what bugs me so much is that that 25% seem to get
75% of the attention in this country by most of the media.

They truly ARE the Daddy Party, aren't they? Running around like a bunch of scared little kids, crying out in the dark for someone to save them.

11. I heard him.
He can't articulate what he believes. He's upset that the classroom is not like real life. Well it's not. Just like a race track is not like the public roads.

What he doesn't realize is that education itself is liberal. Sure there are conservative colleges, but they don't educate; they indoctrinate.

15. Exactly right, IMM.
A liberal education teaches people to think for themselves; a conservative one teaches people WHAT to think.

I'm so glad I have a liberal education.

27. They can get away with it when talking to right-wing hosts, because
those hosts don't question them. But the lefties do, and suddenly, they are standing their without their pants (sorry, bad image), totally at a loss for words, because they HAVE nothing to support their positions.

30. Truthiness:
"Truthiness is what you want the facts to be, as opposed to what the facts are. What feels like the right answer as opposed to what reality will support." ~ Stephen Colbert

I guess this asshole wants more "truthiness" be taught in school. As it turns out, facts are inherently liberal. Life just sucks if you are a brainless right-winger.

Newt Gingrich Poli Sci courses? Pat Robertson Divinity Studies?

The caller should face it, there are no towering schools of pure conservative study.

Just take a class in Social, Cultural and Economic Darwinism.

35. He couldn't even articulate that much.
He just wanted to toss out general statements, not based in fact, and have Randi accept them.

He wasn't one of those really annoying bombastic blowhards. In fact, I felt sorry for him in a way. It was like he was scared to even THINK about THINKING, if you know what I mean.
