Ron Paul leaves third party door open an inch
During an MSNBC interview Wednesday, Rep. Ron Paul was aked if he would run for president as a third-party candidate. Paul replied, "No, I don't plan to run in a third party. That's not my goal. But if we have a candiate that loves the war and loves the neocon position of promoting--" Interviewer Norah O'Donnell cut Paul off at that point, and didn't return to the topic for the rest of the interview.

I wonder who Paul would hurt the most--Dems (on war) or GOP (on most other issues he's with them)

1. If his name appears on the GOP primary ballot he would be ineligible to run

in the many states that have "no sore-loser" laws.

3. Again, if he competed in the GOP primaries, he's ineligible to get on the
ballot in many states as a third-party candidate. He would be running as a spoiler only.

4. but he could still run in some states could he not?

6. Some states, yes.
CT would be an obvious example of a state without a sore loser law.

Why does the media keep talking about? Well the media has to talk about something.

7. I'm wondering if the dedication of his supporters would get him a lot of write-ins though.
I hope he spoils the Republican vote big time, but as we've seen he won't just take votes from them because for some reason people are willing to forsake every single other issue for a guy who wants immediate withdrawal simply because he doesn't want to pay for the war.
