I was never afraid. My parents probably were, but they never let on, not to us kids, that is. They never set out to scare us and I am thankful for that. They were great parents, democratic/liberal to this day. Bu$hco has reversed that. Invoking WWIII and what they have done since stealing the 2000 election has scared the crap out of me! FDR said we have nothing to fear but fear itself and bu$hco has capitalized on that! They are all about fear mongering and they revel in it. And their corporate whore media pushes it on us, daily, especially during elections. It's shameful that we succumb to it. We Americans are better than that. We know bullshit when we see/hear it! It is way pass time we stand up to them ! What say you?

8. A combination of 3 photos I took a couple of weeks ago
The two outer ones are in the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area in eastern San Diego County and the middle one is in the Immaculata church on the campus of the University of San Diego.

14. There is a place on San Juan Island, WA, that looks like the trifecta there
Sort of a coliseum/pillars and tables, out in the woods.

3. I grew up in that era too. I remember the air raid drills at school
and how we were told to hide under our desks, and in the school cafeteria we all had to line up against the big inside cement wall, face the wall and protect your head. I was never afraid either. I remember thinking that both sides knew an attack would mean anialation to both countries and neither was that stupid.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the leader of the US today. That's really sad.

4. yeah, my dad wanted to build a bomb shelter in 1983
he was sure Reagan was going to push the button, and wanted a bomb shelter built in our basement. I remember at the tender age of 13 I pointed out that a 10 MT bomb dropped on our city would vaporize everything withing a 3 mile radius, he sort of gave up that plan, and spent the rest of the 80s hoping Reagan would have a heart attack before he could kill us all.

12. Yeah, I remember in school going through the drills
where we hid under our desks. I'm surprised they didn't suggest duct tape as well.

17. I remember the air raid drills, too
They were never called "duck and cover" where I lived, in suburban Connecticut. I recently connected with a childhood friend and she said she was never afraid, either. As kids, we thought it was sort of a fun thing. Now I read that the 50s were such a frightening era to grow up in. Compared to today, I think it was a great time to grow up. I'm sure it was a different experience for adults, who had just gone through the war, but we kids were oblivious to all that and had plenty of freedom to play outside all day without worry or supervision as long as we were home for supper.
