A republican would have never said he was sorry
and his party wouldn't have made him.

She apologized and had her words struck from the record.

Not that I don't believe you, but it's just so rare.

4. They'd have lied and blamed the Democrats for taking what he/she said out of context
The only apology they've given was schmidt in Ohio and it was half-assed at best.

Most of those hateful Repubs have said worse at every chance they get! I have been a loyal Democrat over 40 years, it saddens me to see how this party has lost all of it's self respect. What are they afraid of? You do not back down from bullies, it just make them twice as bad!:banghead:

7. And the Republicans wouldn't be trying to bring down their party leadership either.
Democrats don't celebrate solidarity much.

12. I don't like it that he was pressured to apologize, or that he apologized at all.
But that doesn't change the fact that Dems show little solidarity across the board.

13. If my "friends" kicked me in the nuts everytime I came around...
I wouldnt hang with them. When Pete first made his staement, shit loads of people said "right on Pete! you kick ass, we've got your back" Hows that for solidarity?

14. "Solidarity" doesn't just mean backing someone when you agree 100%.
And Dems are almost never good at solidarity.

18. Answers, and a question.
I think the first step in solidarity is not to see every difference as a kick. I think also you should show as much solidarity as you'd want shown by others. And that leads to my question: If you want others to show solidarity, how many kicks do you think they should take?

8. not sure that is something i'd envy- but in this instance an
apology was un-necessary, and the censure threat was a fine example of hypocrisy.
