What I foresee if the "Draft Gore" hysteria doesn't end soon:

Possible Outcome #1 (The Pie-in-the-Sky Scenario):

Gore almost reluctantly announces that he will serve as the nominee if the party chooses him, but that he's really too busy to do a lot of primary campaigning. He rides a wave of popular support to the convention and then to the White House.

The world's most visible global-warming activist assumes the world's most powerful office, where he stands the best chance of stopping the runaway locomotive of global warming.

The long task of rebuilding the nation from the ruins of the neocon juggernaut begins.

The grassroots triumph diminishes the power of the corrupt, filthy K Street lobbying establishment, and opens the door to many more Populist victories.

Desirability of outcome: Sky-high
Likelihood of outcome: Very slim

Possible Outcome #2 (The Likely Scenario):

The surging tide of support raises Gore's profile even higher, and provides him with political capital that he can leverage to extract promises and concessions on environmental issues from the Dem candidates, in exchange for his endorsement. The breadth and depth of his popularity does not go unnoticed in the Democratic Party, and it influences the party establishment, the party platform, and the individual candidates.

Desirability of outcome: Still quite high
Likelihood of outcome: Virtual certainty

There is nothing to be lost - and maybe, just maybe, a world to be saved - by clamoring for a Gore presidency.

3. The only place I hear Gore mentioned is on DU
Most are pleased with the choices we have. I'm sure glad we didn't have a VP Leiberman.
