Irritating phone calls
We keep getting phone calls in the middle of the night from 888-222-2222. Caller ID says Unknown and when we answer no one is there. When we try calling back no one answers. We have call block for annonimous callers but not for unknown. Any ideas? We have to keep our phones on because we have a pregnant daughter and elderly parents.

1. You can call your tel company and have a trace put on your line....
... if the calls continue, have the tel company send that information to the local police for investigation of a complaint of harrassment.

6. Agreed.
If I remember correctly (I used to work for a phone co.), you have to go to the police first, lodge a formal complaint, then the police take it to the phone co. with a trace order.

3. I would call the phone company...
and lodge a complaint. You can give the phone number so that they can investigate where the call is originating from. Calling anyone in the middle of the night is simply unacceptable harrassment.

4. I used to have a similar problem

My phone rang once at 2:35 every morning. I contacted the phone company and it quit.

Their story was that there was an automated testing program running and that it needed adjustment. (using lower voltage for testing than for actual use.) That story may be bogus, but the calls stopped.

5. Thanks, everyone!

8. You can also use http://whocalled.us
It might not be listed there, but you can add it as an unknown number. Others might then respond with information about the phone calls they have gotten from this number, too.
