John. Freakin. Fogerty. On Letterman...WOW.
He just rocked the house with the most blatant anti-Bush song I've ever heard...and Letterman LOVED it!

And so did I! :applause:

1. I couldn't hear all the words
Besides "Can't take it no more - can't take yout war".
Did you catch any more?

2. Yeah...something like how Daddy wrote a check to get him
where he is, about his AWOL stint with the National Guard, etc. Even calls him by name ("Georgie").

REALLY insulting...and well deserved. :toast:

4. It's a rerun. Did someone post that song clip?
I'm pretty sure there was a Fogerty. But I couldn't understand the words.

5. Lyrics here.
I Can't Take It No More - John Fogerty

I can't take it no more
I can't take it no more
I'm sick and tired of your dirty little war
I can't take it no more

You know you lied about the casualties
You know you lied about the WMD's
You know you lied about the detainees
All over this world

Stop talking about staying the course
You keep a-beating that old dead horse
You know you lied about how we went to war
I can't take it no more

I can't take it
I can't take it

I bet you never saw the old school yard
I bet you never saw the national guard
Your daddy wrote a check and there you are
Another fortunate son

I can't take it no more
I can't take it no more
I'm sick and tired of your dirty little war
I can't take it no more

Long Dark Night - John Fogerty

George is in the jungle
knockin’ on the door
come to get your children
wants to have a war

Come on, lord you’d better run,
be a long dark night before this thing is done

Brownie's in the outhouse
Katrina on the line
government's a disaster
but George, he says it’s fine

Come on, lord you’d better run,
be a long dark night before this thing is done

Rummy's in the kitchen messin’ with the pan
Dickie’s in the back stealing everything he can
Come on, Lord you’d better run,
be a long dark night before this thing is done

You better run, you better run,
Lord you better run, Lord you better run,

Runnin’ down the highway
shoutin’ to the Lord
George's got religion
and you know he can’t afford more, yeah

Come on, Lord you’d better run
be a long dark night before this thing is done
be a long dark night before this thing is done, oh Lord

3. I missed it, but am glad Fogerty is anti-Bush.
I like his music, and every time I hear of a entertainer I like being a right winger, it hurts. Robert Duvall, has for a long time been one of my favorites, and Adam Sandler, who I have liked from his first appearance on Letterman gave money to Guiliani.

His new album (with this song included) has been out since Oct. 2nd! Where have you been????

Sorry, don't mean to diss--but come on, when an anti-Bush song comes out--I'm on it! I check the new music releases every single Tuesday (new music day in America)!

If you have time, you might enjoy this activity!

27. I'm sorry to report--just one song! :(
Edited on Tue Oct-23-07 04:22 PM by samdogmom
It's "What's the Matter with Parents Today?". Unfortunately, I'm of the 50+ generation and this musical group has been off my radar--I will check them out, thanks for the tip!

(Although--if I could play "American Bandstand" here on this "Parents" tune that I own--I'd rate it up for the beat and message, but....sorry I still can't listen to it...it has no melody! And, I'm a sucker for melody!)

I'm still going to check out their library. If they have anti-Bush songs that I can listen to, I will buy them, I promise! I try to support any artist who puts ideals before dollars!

26. My apologies--didn't mean to diss!
I'm just a little sad because John Fogerty had another very good anti-Bush album a few years ago (Deja Vu All Over Again) and it flopped. I just wish more people would support these artists! I know it's hard when their stuff doesn't get radio play.

I am so glad you had a chance to discover this great music. If you're interested, I could give you a whole list of new anti-Bush songs. (It's very long!) I just remarked to my friend recently that it must be tough to be dubya or a dubya supporter--there's nothing new to add to your iPod--everything good is a song putting the administration down. Oh well, that's a good problem as far as I'm concerned--I'm just a very happy music consumer!

and on our most popular station! But, this IS a liberal city!

9. YES!!! my freeper brother loves Fogerty
don't know how much of a freeper he is anymore, since I haven't spoken to him much in the past few years...

...and since he's in a position to need to declare bankruptcy but can't due to the pre-'06 anti-bankruptcy laws, given to him by his RW corporate masters

I've wondered about that, since a relative told me "he'll never have credit again, as long as he lives"

I wonder if he still worships Hannity...

...about whom he once said, "he sounds like a Jew! I heard his radio show before I ever saw him on TV, and until I saw him I thought he was a Jew!"

comments like that make me want to distance myself as much as possible

he also once said women should never have been given the right to vote. said it real quietly, because we were in public

that's the guy who thinks J.C. Fogerty is a legend and a god

who undoubtedly TiVo'd that performance and rocked out to it in a drunken stupor, Scofield KJV Study Bible on the coffee table next to his pot pipe the whole time

not that I particularly want a guy like my brother on our side, but it would be nice, for his own good I guess, if he stopped idolizing the neocons

28. No need for him to worry
I've wondered about that, since a relative told me "he'll never have credit again, as long as he lives"

Credit is actually easier than ever to re-establish post bankruptcy.

30. but "post-bankruptcy" is not his problem ... it's trying to declare it at all
the pre-'06 Republican congress made sure of that by passing BAPCPA, which became effective on October 17, 2005

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bankruptcy_Abuse_Prevention_and_Consumer_Protection_Act#Criticisms

like his neocon idols, my brother thought he could spend his way to prosperity, and now doesn't have a single credit card or any prospects for getting one. he's certainly not eligible for bankruptcy under the new law
