From his speech this morning, Bush lied about the SCHIP bill
And finally, to increase eligibility up to $83,000, in my judgment, is an attempt by some in Congress to expand the reach of the federal government in medicine. And I believe strongly in private medicine. Now, I think the federal government ought to help those who are poor, and it's one of the reasons why I work so hard on Medicare reform, is to make sure that we fulfill our promise to the elderly. But I don't like plans that move people from -- encourage people to move from private medicine to the public. And that's what's happening under this bill. And so I'm looking forward to working with the Congress to make sure the bill does what it's supposed to do.

LIE!

From USA Today (via Yahoo):

Our view on children’s health program: Bush gives bogus answers to the $83,000 question

Wed Oct 17, 12:22 AM ET

Defending his veto of a plan to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), one of President Bush's most effective lines has been that the measure would extend benefits to families earning as much as $83,000 a year.

That makes a program designed for low-income kids sound like another outrageous Washington boondoggle.

But with the House planning to vote Thursday on overriding the president's veto — SCHIP supporters need to pick up about two dozen votes — it's worth pointing out that Bush's claim is misleading at best, simply wrong at worst.

For one thing, New York is the only state that has asked for federal permission to grant SCHIP coverage to some families that make up to four times the national poverty level ($20,650 for a family of four). No other state has SCHIP coverage that high, and nothing in the bill mandates it. So the $83,000 question isn't even relevant for now in the other 49 states.

<...>

Considering the average $12,000-a-year cost of private health insurance for a family of four, it doesn't seem so crazy that New York asked the administration for permission to grant SCHIP coverage to some families in high-cost areas that make up to 400% of poverty, double the typical SCHIP cap.

In any event, the administration exercised its authority in September and turned New York down. So how can the president keep insisting the bill would cover families earning almost $83,000?

(emphasis added)

5. my partner and I are on the Republican PRAY-GO health plan
my partner was laid off at the end of September, last week I was laid off

COBRA and other health plans are beyond our budget and the only income we have at the moment is unemployment (less taxes - thank-you very much Ronald Reagan)

The only plan we can now afford is the Republican PRAY-GO health plan. The plan requires no premiums, no deductibles, it's neither funded privately nor by the state or federal government. There is no confusing paperwork to fill out, forms to file or cards to carry. It's a simple 2 step plan.

Step One: Drop to your knees
Step Two: Pray you don't have to GO to a doctor or hospital

6. He also starting the lie that it is congress's fault that we don't
have good benefits and health coverage for our military.

Did you hear him when he said "I have asked congress for a bill to increase benefits and health benefits for our brave military." As if it is congress fault and not his because if you remember the last bill did not pass because the republicans stalled it.

need to be willing to do this- and do it till everyone hears the truth instead of the pre-packaged, Madison Avenue LIES-

Silence is not golden when it allows lies to live.
